2 pilots (based at Yellowknife), one observer were on board. Unfortunately no survivor. My tought to them & their family. |
Does anyone know who crewed the aircraft?

PLANE CRASH ABOUT 4 KM FROM AIRPORT A cargo plane that crashed in the Northwest Territories, killing all three Yellowknife residents on board, was just four kilometres from a remote airstrip, say investigators. The pilot, co-pilot and passenger were killed when the twin-engine plane slammed into rocky outcroppings at 1 p.m. Sunday near Port Radium, on the eastern edge of Great Bear Lake, some 400 km northwest of Yellowknife. Transportation Safety Board investigators and the Yellowknife coroner were delayed by poor weather but finally landed at the site yesterday afternoon. "They could be there several days," said Tony Allinson, safety board spokesman. The bodies of John Bidwell, 52, Colin Tilson, 21, and Mary Tilson, 22, were removed from the site last night. The Sport Sky Van operated by Summit Aviation was making a cargo run to Yellowknife and coming into Port Radium airstrip from Kugluktuk, Nunavut, when it went down. |
