best flight school in Canada
 

anyone know the best 10 flight schools/colleges in canada?I'm trying to help some young Chinese onto their way to the blue sky.thanks in advance.

I went to Interlake Pilot Training Centre in Gimli, Manitoba several years ago. I don't even know if they still exist, but were very good to me.

I graduated from Centre Québécios de Formation Aéronautique (C.Q.F.A.) in St-Honoré, Qc. A branch of the CEGEP of Chicoutimi.

To me, very good at what they do...if no the best in Canada

Would you care to be a little more specific with the term "best"?

Do you mean the highest pass rates, the cheapest rental rates the friendliest staff or the least no-fly days?

To identify the top 10 you must have some objective criteria that can be applied to all schools.

Thanks for replying,guys!. .As for the term "best flight schools",Code Blue,. .I think high-pass rate,friendly staff and being financially healthy are essential,and its overseas. . student policy is very important too.. .I'm waiting for further information.

My reccommendation would be Winnipeg Flying Club (St. Andrews, outside Winnipeg) for the single Commercial, on to Perimeter (Winnipeg International) for the Multi IFR.

WFC has their own (pretty good, relatively new) accommodations, by the time they get to Perimeter they should be able to find their way around Winterpeg... several hotels/motels/flophouses around Perimeter give their students discounts, so the last month or so should not be all that expensive.

Have you considered Australia ?

More than 500 chinese pilots get their licences in Australia each year.

Melbourne has a significant number of schools that cater for asian students from korea, china, japan, india, singapore etc. some major airline contracts Korean Air, China Northern Airlines choose to train there.

China Southern have a school in Perth, produces about 120 chinese pilots a year, does about 30,000 hours instructional a year : <a href="http://www.cswafc.com.au" target="_blank">www.cswafc.com.au</a>

Singapore airlines has a school in Perth and setting up advanced training near Brisbane with lear jets.

British Aerospace have two large schools in Australia. The one in Adelaide trains airline cadets. Qantas, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, South African Airways, Dragonair, Shanghai Airlines and Emerates choose to train their pilots there. I would recommend Gander Flight Training.

Courses include CPL and ICPL, ME & IR. First attempt pass rates for ground school run at 88% and for flight tests 90%.

Accomodation available locally. Small expat chinese community in the town.

Financially healthy last time I looked!

Kilo, while looking for Gander Flight Training on the <a href="http://www.altavista.ca" target="_blank">www.altavista.ca</a> search engine I came across an interesting accident report. Do type Gander Flight Training into the altavista search engine and read the report. 2 planes in a very short period of one another making crash landings because of fuel exhaustion. Hmmm. A lot of carb-ice accidents too. Check it out FULLY before committing. Hopefully they've changed operational policies since then.

Taluften:. .The school has changed significantly in terms of its policies in the last 2 years. There is a new CFI/Manager and a completely overhauled dispatch procedure.

As important there are now formal selection and Progress monitoring mechanisms for students. Three of those incidents could be traced back to inappropriate acceptance of students by the school. You cannot regulate for idiocy, but at least you can refuse them tuition!

DEFINATELY NOT WESTPOINT IN CALGARY!!!!!!!

British Columbia has some great schools too, and the area is beautiful (and educational) to fly in.

I am not sure how everyone is suited for accommodation, but with enough students, I am sure that help would be forthcoming.

There are also a lot of foreign students in BC, particularly from the Pacific Rim.

Try Juan Air in Victoria, Pacific Flying Club in Vancouver (Boundary Bay), Victoria Flight Training, and even some in smaller airports like Castlegar.

Try Pro-IFR in Boundary Bay, excellent school-staff and rates are competitive.. .They really look after you, and they own their own accomodation.. .Ask for John Montgomery...

Empire Aviation in London, ON is an awesome flight school. Its very well run, and the London area is fantastic for flight training.
