This is the transport Canada web site, may provide some help.

Try

You'd really be better off staying in OZ.

OVC, I was under the impression that the Canadian avaition scene was more promising than either NZ or Oz.

I've got two Kiwi mates up there flying and both consider it a smart move.

Has the market moved up there?.

Not that we need anymore NZ refugees in OZ, but there is a lot of recriuting in OZ right now.

DirtyDawg 2nd January 2000 23:43

Would that be Qantas or Ansett?

Thanks

Qantas, Ansett (soon), Kendell, Impulse, Eastern to name a few....

I presume they only hire if you have right of residence!!?? Can NZers work in OZ?

P51 - I converted my Oz CPL over there two years ago, waste of money unless you plan to marry a Canuck or you can get immigrant status. Canada seems as hard as the US to get in. I was on a work visa, but the companies wanted someone without restricted work rights. Great place to fly though. E-mail me if you want more info - got it all.

Gee, do it the way everybody else does it, just hide in a container on some ship, then in Vancouver, come out and clain refugee status...it really seems to work...What's all this about Qantas looking for people? Over here, I dont know, it seem like the job market is OK. Am I wrong?

Oh darn, it's doing it again!!

Thinking about heading over to Canada myself in a year or so...

How hard would it be to get some kind of unrestricted work visa thing (apart from marriage, that is?)

Looking for any information on the aviation scene over there as well..

Cheers,

sm

I know that you can get a one year working visa if you are a nz or aussie citizen if you apply now! look up the appropriate consulate for the info.

You guys "want" to come to Canada to fly?

Good Luck, the Transport Canada site should give you some good info, but be warned, it ain't going to be easy. Be prepared to freeze your warm butts off up north, not quite
as cold as the south pole, ...you would probably have an easier time sneeking in on a Chineese freighter.

There is no shortage of pilots here, especially since Air Canada has purchased Canadian Airlines, and both Regionals. However, give it a try, you never know what will happen in this industry, besides, a New
Zealand fellow is Fire Chief in our city, he's still a little slow on the "eh's" after
about 20 years, but we still love him and his accent.
