ATR type rating.
 

Hello everyone,
I hold a canadian CPL-MULTI/IR,250 hours TT.
Has anybody done an ATR type rating with a canadian licence??
I guess there is no ATR type provider in canada and usa.

Why are you getting a ATR type rating or wanting that TR? Has someone approached you if you get a TR and they have a job?
If you are going to pay for a atr TR why not go for a 737 or A320. Way more to offer out there in the contract world. :sad:

I actually hold a canadian ATPL with an atr type rating.
I think flight safety does have an ATR program in Houston,TX.

Pardon my being an old stuffed shirt, but there is no such thing in Canada as an ATR. :confused:

I've heard this reference misused over the years, so in an attempt to help you out I would simply say this, we have an Airline Transport Pilot Licence, or ATPL. But, you don't need an ATPL to get a TR. :=

The ATR term in this country is a misnomer and most are probably more familiar with the term Type Rating, which is attached to your CPL or ATPL. You can do the TR in either the Left seat or Right seat. Check the conditions.
Using this ATR reference around the wrong place could send you off on a wild goose chase when it comes to finding out where you can get a type rating if the respondent is unfamiliar with this ATR reference. There's a difference.

You can self-sponsor a Type Rating at several places here in Canada. I'd suggest CAE or Flight Safety as none of the airlines here appear to be offering off-the-street training for single person Type Ratings. It's a big hassle and they usually don't have the time available in their sims anyway.
Check it out and best of luck. You don't need an ATR to get a type rating on your CPL. :ok:

I think the chap is referring to the A/C ATR not the license!!
Both First Air in CYOW and Westwind in Saskatoon operate the type in Canada, as well Air Saint Pierre in Miquelon France's Island off Newfoundland services Halifax and Montreal.
You might give them a call and see if they have openings for FO's.
