Avionic Engineering in Canada
 

I would really like to work in Canada and am qualified as a B2 avionics helicopter engineer. Does this qualify as a skilled trade for immigration purposes? Are there plenty of vacancies available? What are pay scales like?

Avionics can apply under the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's.

This way you can work for a Canadian company and not have to move there right away.

If you are from Aberdeen I am sure you are familiar with CHC?

im not sure about the vacancies and pay scales, but it does look like something that's on the list for desirable occupation

It would be best to talk to an immigration specialists about this though.

You might also want to check the manufacturers' sites of the birds you've worked on to see if they have any FSR vacancies. Don't forget that your avionics experience is applicable to fixed wing as well - the lead engineer of one of our Avionics Design groups is ex-Bell. There's quite a movement between Bell & fixed wing dependent on which is enjoying better sales (which ain't the CRJs at the moment).

Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers - Flight Line


Integral to the customization of new aircraft through the installation of optional equipment, you will perform ground-run checks, test flights, and associated adjustments on both new and customer owned aircraft. Dedicated to service and quality, you will conduct inspections, carry out service bulletins, and prep aircraft for delivery. You have outstanding time management and communication skills and although you work well independently, you realize the importance of teamwork.

You have a valid M1 or M2 AME licence issued by Transport Canada, at least two years of licensed experience on rotary aircraft, and ideally knowledge of various Eurocopter aircraft.

I tried to do it when I moved over here (I was half way through my B2) but TC judt didn't seem to want to help me out. I went with breakdowns of modules, times on each subject as well as Practical experience but apparently this wasn't good enough.
