From Cape Columbia to Cape Horn

Across the Americas in a C182

Dear All,

David Hempleman-Adams will try to cross the Americas, from Cape Columbia (Northern tip of Canada) to Cape Horn, in a Cessna 182. Yes! A single-engine piston!
Knowing that some of the challenges they will face (David will be flying with Canadian co-pilot Lorne White) are the crossing of the Bay of Hudson, the 570 NM over the ocean between the Dominican Rep and Caracas, the Amazon, the extreme weather and the odds.

You can get a taste of it on www.canadianspotlight.com or http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/...ire/3768757.stm

Cape 2 Cape Challenge

The plane is not a C182 no more, but a really cool C210. We have finished working on the plane, and the pink machine will be heading for Eureka in the next days, to position for this challenging crossing of the Americas. David Hempleman-Adams and Lorne White will be really happy to meet you all in Canada, especially those flying in the real "cold country" up there in Nunuuvut.

If they run into problems on the Ellesmere- Baffin part of things, 4472.5 or 5281.0 are monitored by local arctic pilots.

Have fun. We do this every year, but go all the way south.

Cheers,
JC

I don't believe that such a beast exists ... but if it does, it definitely is not painted hot pink.
