Instead of sending their aircrafts overseas (in this case Singapore)...

It seems an Airbus 330 in for a complete refurbish and maintenance in Singapore fell off the jacks while they were performing gear retractions.

The article states that there is heavy damage done to the aircraft, to its engines, wings and fuselage.

In the article, they are saying that it will take a minimum of 6 months to repair.

However later reports after further investigations now seem to say the aircraft is totaled!

Sorry I could not find an English version of the article which appeared in French in a Montreal news outlet...

I think you'll find that these incidents happen in-house also. As airlines cut back on maintenance budgets, lack of experience/training eventually begin to show.

:mad: happens; over to the insurance companies to sort this mess out.

You may not be aware but AFKL does AC GE90 overhauls. Not sure abt the location.

AC can write a book on how not to outsource aircraft maintenance.

You will be hard pressed to track who does what for AC.

i remember touring the AC maintenance back shops in YUL. It was visibly a dysfunctional work environment.

I have seen this in multiple shops around the world. The union convinces the work force they have a god given right to the work and practices creep in that make them cost uncompetitive.

My favorite was touring a 777 in SFO at the United Maintenance base with all the Biz Class seats full of sleeping workers. Shock and horror a few years later when the work went to China! Of course the union put up the usual call of the move being a safety risk.
