Global Express 7000's first flight today...
 

November 04th 2017...

First flight... 2 hours 27 minutes and up to FL200.

Hope to be lucky enough to fly one or the 8000 before I retire.

Well with the XRS we already fly +12 hour flights so with the 7000 you can add easily another 2 hours for sure.

I just did a 12+27 hour leg in a G6000. I think max range in the G7000 will be around 15 hours.

I manage to control my sphincter up to 7 hours, but I'm a co-pilot only...

Yes that's going to be a long time in the air!

I think the G7000 max flight time will be close to 16 hours. It's ridiculous in a cabin that small, no real crew rest separated from the galley/pax, limited storage for catering supplies. But, they're selling pretty well.

Even Global 6000 offers large CRA with sliding doors, fully breathable seat or option with two bunk beds.
The G7000 CRA is only better, the space is very decent, as shown in video at 1:22"

Have you actually flown any 12+ hour flights in a Global? Looks pretty in the pictures, try getting real sleep next to a galley. I've done innumerable 24-hour duty days in the C-5, a walk in the park compared to an augmented day in the Global.

GF... That's because you're an old fart! :-)

I understand your point of view and that's why in a way we never (never say never right) use an augmented crew in our operations (so far).

On long trips from North America to Asia we schedule a technical stop (usually Anchorage when we do it westbound or somewhere in Europe eastbound) and a fresh crew takes over for the remainder of the flight.

T.C. might be changing things in regards to augmented crews and the allotted extension for a crew duty day and the type of "private space" offered onboard may well dictate how much of an extension you will be able to get.

I did hear some GEXs have custom made double bunk set ups which offer lie flat sleeping positions that are apparently pretty good but I have never seen one and talked to pilots that use them.

I'm sure the 7000 and would think the 8000 would have better set ups then the present generation GEXs.

Agreed, about 10-11 hours is perfect, so buy a 5000 and do crew swaps.
