Flight instructor jobs?
are there any flight instructor jobs in Canada? :ugh:is it worth getting a flight instructor rating?
|
Weren't you asking earlier if there were any alternatives to flight instructing because you "aren't so keen" on it?
If you really think you'll hate instructing - don't bother getting the rating. If you end up working as a disgruntled flight instructor, your students will suffer, you'll be miserable, and you'll come across to your peers, coworkers, bosses and people who walk in the door that you're just another guy suffering through it only to build time. (Note - people who walk in the door wanting a check-out, for example, could be an industry connection, ie. a working pilot that has hiring connections, job tips etc, and trust me, they won't help a cranky guy out. It's all about who you know in this industry.) As far as if there are instructing jobs in Canada? Yes. Are there other time building jobs in Canada? Yes. Are they easy and in nice, glitzy cities? No. |
Elvis, your profile says "student pilot", would it perhaps be more logical to ask your instructor this question rather than post it here ? Many of us on this site havnt instructed since flying machines had four wings and were made of wood!

Hello Clunk,
I've asked my instructor, not too sure if i can take his word. He says that flight instructors are in demand now and will be for a few years. |
"Not sure you should take his word". And this is the guy you chose to teach you to fly?!!!!

If you want to succeed in aviation it's up to you. Just like any successful cross country you need a flight plan. You can solicit as much advice as you like from those around you and end up discouraged and feeling like a failure. YOU need to come up with a career plan (a flight plan if you prefer) that fulfills your aims and goals. Remember this above all else. Your luck is your luck. Not mine or the next guys. It entirely up to you. In most cases the ones giving you advice are the ones sitting around the flying club in the same boat with not much more than you on offer and still looking themselves. Instructing is a great time builder but be the best f**kin' instructor you can be and you'll be remembered as that. Define the time period you expect to be instructing and know when you need to move on and to what? You're the master of your own fate. Choose your advisors wisely. FWIW Instructors are in demand and that demand is only getting stronger. At your age, if it's what you choose to do, do it for a limited time and move on. Calculate your shelf life for each stage and you'll get to where you're trying to go. Good luck. Willie :ok: |
Willie,
Thanks for those inspiring thoughts. Some people say that it's a good time for pilots some say it's bad, I guess the guys who are complaining are butt-hurt. Good luck to you too sir. |
hi Willie
hi Willie
please give me a hand too. i'm also thinking to get the instructor rating as my back up. isn't it necessary? what you mean is if i want to go for small fly job after flight training, then i should just get rid of the instructor rating in my head. just focus on finding small fly job. right? i'm planning to start my pilot training this year. things that i plan is right or wrong, i'm not sure. that's why i need people who had experience to give me advise. as we all know, training school always say lack of pilot and instructor...etc...... :( thanks Willie for your help. :) Leslie |
hi Willie
sorry Willie
i got what you mean now. learn instructor rating if i wanted to be an instructor, don't do it if i only want to build hours from it. :p hehe |

First of many lessons learned today...don't assume anything. ;)
Many people around the country making hiring decisions whose name does not match the "traditional" thought process...my boss included. Be glad you learned now and not at the beginning of an interview! |
I get what you mean +TSRA, but this is just a forum.
