Airline Jobs in Canada

Hi,
I am Flying the B777 and flew the A320/A330/A340 . What are the options right now in Canada?

I need more specifically some information about Air Transat, Sunwing, Canjet and Cargojet.
These Airlines hire full time or part-time pilot?
Time for an Upgrade?
Salary?
Roster?

Happy Landings.

Do you have the right to work in Canada? Yes?…start at the bottom of the seniority list…No? Not gonna happen…lost of good young talent ahead of you already...unless you already work at a company that has an agreement with Canjet, or Sunwing to supply pilots on a shady seasonal basis. There is a very good thread already on PPRUNE that will clear up any questions for you.

are there any airlines that are not seniority based? I am RHS 777 at the moment in europe, but after a recent trip to BC, the quality of life is amazing!

Have the ability to live and work there (canadian wife).

Had a quick look at westjet but it's salary certainly focuses the mind! Air Transat any good? I guess AC is all seniority based, and thus no direct entry onto 777?....

tbaylx 6th Feb 2014 20:48

Sure you can go direct entry onto the AC B777, you just have to do it as a cruise relief pilot for $45K a year for the first few years :)

Pretty much every airline is seniority based in Canada, hence bottom of the list and entry level wages regardless of previous experience. The odd exception would be if you had sufficient command experience for one of the smaller airlines looking for a rare direct entry captain position that occasionally comes up.

Presently, in Canada, most airlines are welcoming foreign pilots with open arms.
Apparently, Canadian pilots aren't qualified for most vacancies due to the missing or specific type ratings. With B777 TR and time on type, Sunwing is waiting for your application with bated breath. You might try Canjet whilst you're at it. They're fond of talented pilots as well. Preferably, the non-Canadian kind.
Did I mention the Canadian Government will expedite your application should either of these carriers fancy your quals?

Worth a shot I should think.

But dont walk through a dark parking lot at the end of your flight, there are some who are not directors of "Scumwing and Scam Jet " who might have a unique welcome for you!

planett 8th Feb 2014 03:34

I suggest our "welcome" should be directed at those Ministers and employers who allowed and took advantage of this situation, and not those pilots who are ultimately pawns in the game like most of us.

Left Coaster 8th Feb 2014 05:29

Nah Willie…I disagree, he's not 737NG qualified...

saudipc-9 8th Feb 2014 21:41

Good god, how many of these " How do I get a flying job in Canada" threads are we going to have to put up with?

SloppyJoe 9th Feb 2014 05:01

WOW, you guys are the ridiculous ones! This guys location says China, he may be a Canadian working for one of the agencies but has had enough of the filthy air and wants to come home. He may be so willing to do that that starting at the bottom is what he is prepared to do.

Pathetic responses from most.

justagigolo77 9th Feb 2014 18:06

But then Again maybe he isn't Oh holier than thou sloppy one. You aren't annoyed by the endless threads of how to get a job in Canada? Congratulations, you are in the minority.:D:ok:

Mostly Harmless 9th Feb 2014 21:01

I think Sloppy is in the more silent majority.

It hurts no one to ask. If you don't like what you read, you can choose not the read or reply to anyone. It's called free speech, which I endorse, and if I don't like what's being said, I can choose not to listen/read/watch.

Ladies and Gentlemen: We all know it's a tough go at home, and apparently elsewhere in the world too. Let us try to impart some of the grace, hospitality and politeness we Canadians are supposed to be known for upon those who post here and elsewhere. One can impart truth without being harsh about the matter.

Just my thoughts on the matter. Cheers and good luck to all.

P. S. I did like the "How to" sticky and thought it was a very good idea, and very well done.

Willie Everlearn 9th Feb 2014 23:22

That " grace, hospitality and politeness we Canadians are supposed to be known for " is why Canadian pilots are f**king themselves by not putting an end to the import rules our government and some airlines seem to disregard.

Willie :ok:

.... And being nasty to someone on an aviation site will solve that problem?

Take the fight to the correct enemy.

saudipc-9 10th Feb 2014 04:19

Here's the truth-READ THE STICKY and or do a thread search! And Sloppy you cannot be serious! He's a Canadian working over in China! Give me a break:mad:. What an idiotic post.

SloppyJoe 10th Feb 2014 05:34

I am rubber you are glue, bounces off me and sticks to you. Ahahah, now who's the idiot!

saudipc-9 10th Feb 2014 12:14

Thanks for making my point Sloppy, good grief:yuk:

Left Coaster 10th Feb 2014 12:22

Sloppy

If he's aCanadian working in China and has enough 777 Command time to ask about a DEC job "back home" he should know how it works! (If he is actually a Canadian…which I seriously doubt)

SloppyJoe 10th Feb 2014 12:59

Where does he mention DEC jobs in Canada? Thought maybe you were referring to another post he may have made so checked his history, all I could find is a Yahoo.ca (CANADIAN) email address on another thread.

another argument that I have for use in this thread is.

I know you are but what am I?
I know you are but what am I?

Repeated for every attack. Oh and by the way, no switchies!!!!

(for those that do not know, switchies are saying something nice in the hopes that the, I know you are but what am I, rule comes back at you with something good. It DOESN'T as that is cheating and I bagsied it not to happen!)

Willie :ok:

You think that the rest of the world should send back all Canadian pilots working there?
