Arctic Air -CBC really tells it like it is!

Another CBC piece of c**p:

Ask a doctor, lawyer or detective if the stuff shown on TV is anywhere close to what their job is actually like. In the vast majority of cases, the answer is, "No, it's nothing like that".

It's entertainment, not a documentary. :hmm:

JammedStab 9th Jan 2012 14:58

Anyone know where I can bump into Candy?

lilflyboy262...2 9th Jan 2012 19:47

lmfao.

They can make it interesting and entertaining without taking it over the top. Why not get some advisers in?

rotornut 10th Jan 2012 07:31

Why not get some advisers in?
That might make it too close to reality.

jinglied 10th Jan 2012 13:28

They are sure using more than their fair share of "Artistic License" on this program.

rotornut 10th Jan 2012 14:34

Yeh, the pilots are clean shaven, well groomed, neatly dressed. In reality just the opposite most of the time.

Topskier 11th Jan 2012 04:05

5 minutes in and I already hate it... thought I was watching a re-run of Ice Pilots NWT.

rotornut 12th Jan 2012 12:52

Years ago the CBC produced a series called Cannonball. It was about 2 truckers driving in Canada and the US. They never seemed in much of a hurry, were happy and cheerful, and always had some sort of little adventure en route - typical CBC reality. The only thing missing was a Candy - too bad.

carholme 12th Jan 2012 17:37

rotornut;

Good one! You are abviously no spring chicken if you remember that series. On the farm at that time, we only got one channel, CBC and Cannonball was a time when even the chores had to wait.

Yes, it sure dates me. Those guys always seemed so happy! Hardly the reality of trucking these days.
I also remember RCMP - another CBC production.

Ejector 13th Jan 2012 07:57

Oh Candy :O

rotornut 13th Jan 2012 20:55

Yeh, forget the planes just show more of Candy.;)

Pilot DAR 14th Jan 2012 02:37

Yeah, I watched a bit, and saw a bit of flying, kind of... I got a headache though, from the camera work. It was filmed in squirrel vison - CBC needs a stabilized camera for the earth based scenes.

If you want to restore your faith in Canadian TV production, look out for a series called "Defying Gravity", it is excellent!

Left Coaster 14th Jan 2012 05:05

Nope...bad bad bad...gotta go all the way back to The Beachcombers to see good CBC stuff...:}

McDoo the Irish Navigator 15th Jan 2012 20:16

737-600

So the shows' a bit hokey, it's meant to entertain the unwashed masses after all.
The highlight of the show was the excellent landing and taxi-in of the Westjet 737-600.
That handsome, confident, well dressed, and may I say humble, Captain, sure knows what he's doing!

J.O. 16th Jan 2012 10:38

So McDoo, how much did you get paid to be on the show? ;)

fesmokie 16th Jan 2012 14:09

Yes..They certainly do need advisors! Ive only watched one episode and could barely watch it to the end. It makes Ice Pilot's look real good !!! When I saw the cute DC-3 Captain flying along with one Eng. shut down and the other barely running and she's just smiling as if nothing's wrong with 20 miles left to the airport. Sorry but, I'll stick to watching Family Guy or South Park. Much more realistic !! lol
.

rotornut 16th Jan 2012 17:12

I'm afraid they're all quite unrealistic - the writers and producers don't seem to have a clue.
Remember Street Legal a few years ago? If they knew what really went on in the criminal justice system they could have had a great show instead of the boring "truth and justice" junk.

pigboat 18th Jan 2012 01:56

Hey McDoo long time no hear. How ya doin?

Re the Beachcombers. Here's a bit of info on Robert Clothier, the guy who played Relic.
