Converting an Australian CPL to the Canadian CPL
 

Hey Guys,
I'm thinking about maybe moving to Canada to pick up some work at a company flying Floatplanes. Has anyone been through this process (more the whole conversion of licences) because i'm interested in how you went about it.

Also what about working visa's? I haven't ever been oversea's so i'm not sure what to do. Thanks for your help!

covert to US FAA CPL or ATP then go to canada to convert will only take a week total....

Can't convert a converted license...

You US license would say "Based on Australian license"

Thus not good for much.

However, all you need to do is write the written test (EASY) if you read the study and reference guide, then do the flight test. Not too costly.

not true... if you do the exam and flight test for the FAA (3day course $2K later) you have a legit FAA license not based on foreign ticket.

You will need Canadian residence to get work there with nearly all the operators I have been told. A work permit means you have to leave so they are not interested in hiring, check out Pilot Careers website most companys post the min visa requirements below.

OK, so save the 2K and do the exam ($110) and 3 hours $150X3) and pay $560 for a license... + plus your 110 for licensing fee. No Visa requirements, and you're good to go?
