Licence Question: FLVC

Attached to a UK/JAR licence, how long is it valid for after completion of the exams, 2 years?

If FLVC means Foreign License Validation Certificate then it is valid for 12 months... but you don't need to pass any exams to get it. Also, you do need to have a valid JAA medical certificate in order for the FLVC to be valid i.e., anything that invalidates your JAA PPL will invalidate the FLVC too.

I have a JAA PPL issued by the UK CAA and got my FVLC simply by going to Transport Canada in Vancouver, showing them my docs and paying them some money.

You can get a Canadian PPL issued on the basis of your JAA PPL. This requires you pass the PSTAR written exam and it follows the same validity rules as a "normal" Canadian PPL.
