Air Canada Hiring

I got an email about a month ago from Air Canada about the new online application:

http://www.aircanada.com/en/about/ca...e/careers.html

Anyone know who is in charge of pilot hiring these days? From the days before the door of that office was padlocked I have a Captain A.W. Wilford as Pilot Hiring Committee Chair.

Also anyone know the new phone number for the office? I had an old one 416.231.6563 to check whether the paper applications were still current.

Thanks :)

Anyone know if it's possible to even apply right now?

No harm in applying ... they can't refuse an application, but the fact remains, there are still 152 AC pilots on layoff status and obviously subject to recall before any outside hiring. They are being gradually offered positions and it has been said by senior management that hopefully all will be back by the end of 2005.

It is entirely possibly that not all will accept a recall, and then the company will be be in a position to hire new pilots. Lots of retirements in the future ... possible expansion in the fleet as well, so good luck!

What I meant was, how can you apply right now... they don't take paper apps anymore, and the website says no pilots needed now.

Good luck

AC anticipate the requirement to hire pilots in the first quarter of 2006. Unlike past practice, all applications will be accepted on-line only...

Flex's information is good. Sask Wilford is loooong gone and fossilized somewhere between a TRex and Velociraptor. There probably isn't yet a valid phone number for hiring inquiries, but all of YYZ airport has been area code 905 for many years, so none of your 416 numbers will work.

Although the industry downturn and merger with CAIL have been brutal, we've rounded the corner and furloughed pilots are being recalled. There have been several media reports about new routes and new airplanes but the airline has been very vague when discussing growth within Flt Ops. If any meaningful expansion occurs over the next couple years, then the retirement numbers will combine to create a significant requirement for newhire pilots.
