I have just returned from Asia and can't believe how bad things are there. I have been flying along time and never seen it so bad, it worse than 9/11 & Gulf war 1&2 put together. I think about 3 airlines will collapse in the next 10 weeks. Malaysian is down 41% and every asian carrier is on the brink. This is a time to support our fellow f/a's and treat our customers extra special. Even domestic airlines are under the hammer because inbound traffic that feeds them is way down. The world airline industry is in crisis and I hope that there is an upsurge soon or there will be a disater for ailine employees.

cheer up :-)

Hi guys!

I haven't been posting anything for awhile but I really felt like I should send a post to brighten things up!

Lately there has been a great deal of negative news being posted and negative talk about the airline industry because of current world events but I just wanted to say that there is hope. The airline industry by nature is an ever changing and fluctuating industry it's actually one of the beauties about it that draws so many people to it.

With any suffering comes new bigger and brighter opportunities and that's what we should all look forward to. We all get stronger and wiser when we have face hardships and tribulations. There are things in the world we cannot change but we can change how we look at things.

Whilst some airlines may not be prospering so easily others ,
new airlines have been expanding and recruiting I believe we can make a difference by facing our fears and encouraging others as a society as well.

The couple of posts above were 2 threads of their own. I merged it because IMHO the topic is the same: the future of the civil aviation world, our world and workplace.

Interesting to have opinions from all around...

Thanks FlyBlue i think that the merging was most appropriate :-) Dr Phil your post has brought a great insight and reminder to all of us.

Right now the deaths, world wide, from SARS is under 200.

Each year in the USA alone 35,000 people die from the common 'flu virus.
