Business class crew/pax ratios?
As the title suggests I am just looking for some info on normal crew/pax ratios for business class on several airlines.
I have been told that Bmi previously operated with 2 dedicated crew in J class with 24 seats. Another crew member would help out when required. So 2.5 for 24 pax makes the ratio here approx 1: 8.5. For example I can remember when I started with an airline (over a decade ago) the longhaul J Class cabin was 24 or 36 seats. Crew numbers were 3 or 4. So 1: 8 or 1:9 was the ratio. (Shorthaul had more pax but then service was less involved) I'm asking this as I want to get a sense of what the average ratio is across a range of airlines. Is it 1: 8 or 1:12? Would 1:12 be the highest ratio? |
On the mid haul A321, bmi would have 2 crew working business for 31 passengers. And meals would be plated up! At BA, we generally have 3 crew in club with 23 flat bed seats, and no plating up.

BA have 2 serving on the upper deck of a Jumbo, which has 20 Club seats.
