service ratios
 

Hi,
I have a question that I hope can be answer by a flight attendant. For my university studys I need the service ratios of different carriers in different classes.
By service ratio I mean the number of passengers per trolley and per lavatory. Maybe service ratio is not the correct word, I am not sure about that. I know that the usual ratio is around 50 passengers per toilet, but this of course varies depending on the carrier, the route, and wheter one flies economy or business class. On the trolleys I have no clue at all how many passengers are usually served per trolley.

It would be great if anyone could give me some numbers how you experience it in your day to day job.

Thanks for the hint. For the galleys they only have a yellow box there, but I might be able to determine how big it is and how many trolleys would fit in there. Although I have no idea how much is stored above the trolleys that adds up to the service ratio, right? Or am I thinking the wrong way here?
But you are right, for the lavatorys it is really helpfull, thank you!

You will also need to take into account load factors. I was on a flight two weeks ago where the crew looking after First cabin outnumbered the passengers.

There is no exact answer to how many passengers are served per trolley as it will depend on each airlines style and menu concept.

As a guide about 30 large trays are in each trolley or 45 medium trays or 60 small trays for economy. Tray size will depend on meal type, length of flight and airline. Some airlines have 2 per trolley others just 1.

For Club or First it will depend on number of seats in the cabin as each service may involve more than 1 tray.

Galleys will depend on the airline spec and will be different for each aircraft type (eg. BA will be very different to Easyjet for the same aircraft type and a BA B747 very different to a BA A320)

As EGSC said use the guide to find out how many pax per lav although among of crew will vary from flight to flight and carrier.
Havana is correct on that each "cart" will stock different amounts of tray sizes. For information each full size cart has 12 levels plus the bottom allowing for 13 trays if they were to be a full cart length which they are not otherwise a tray would be twice the size as a table on board. The general number is 26/39/52
