A Thick Passenger Question

I am one of those pax who flies quite a lot and tries to make things as easy as possible for the CC. (Things like arranging the tray so that it fits back into the trolley when I am finished, opening and closing the screen at the right time for the safety videos, having the space around my seat clean and tidy and in compliance with the rules etc etc.)

One area where I am confused is with regard to headsets. The CC on the airline that I fly most often ask for "used headsets" towards the end of the flight.

What do you want us to do headsets that we haven't used to make your lives easier?

EISNN 8th January 2012 12:53

If the headset comes in packaging/plastic wrapping place them back in the seat pocket and leave them there. The used headsets are collected for recycling or disposal. The used headsets are also collected to prevent passengers tripping over stray cables etc as they disembark the aircraft. In most cases it's an aviation authority regulation too.

Thanks.

I often get a "look" when I don't have a used headset to hand over and always wondered.

Wow, I thought this thread was going to be about fat people. :)

Ive been flying a long time and to see a post like this makes me really happy. I was beginning to wonder whether all of humanity had lost its manners but you prove that nice people still do exist!

On the other hand you can always take them, along with the cutlery and glasses from Club, the amenity kit, the pillows, blankets and lastly the magazines and safety cards and flog 'em on Ebay:8

As you are travelling a great deal, you might benefit in comfort by purchasing your OWN headphones; something like a BOSE QC-15, an acoustic noise cancelling species.

I have a set of the predecessor, the QC-2, and they are the canines danglies.

Apologies for lack of apostrophe, should one be required..

Espada III 11th January 2012 11:26

I admit to talking pillows and blankets, knowing that the next flight in my trip will be later in the evening and no such items are provided. I them leave them on the second plane.

Am I guilty?

Tha would be theft AND littering, wouldn't it?

Tankertrashnav 11th January 2012 17:09

...the canines danglies.

If the danglies belong to one canine the apostrophe goes here - canine's.

It they belong to more than one canine, it goes here - canines'.

Easy peasy :ok:

Cheers tanker

Not sure I've ever seen canines share danglies (nor would I want to), but thank you for the clarification.

Tricky stuff, this English. Just ask the cuzzins over the pond..

Again it comes down to bending the rules to accomodate the needs of the workforce surely it should be the other way around. Perhaps the Emirates is starting to realise that culture and business don't always go together. Money is an intolerant mistress that requires those that serve it without impediment. Once 'exceptions' start to arise in any trade situation then revenue suffers because someone, somewhere else can do the full job without making a song and dance about it.
