Airline insecticides content

Hello all

I have a friend who wants to go to aus at x-mas, flying oneworld qantas or ba. She is allergic to aluminium and has been told that some of the insecticides that are sprayed in the cabin prior to landing contain aluminium (which would cause her problems:yuk:) can anyone confirm or deny this!!!

She has also been told that qantas do not spray but ba do!!

thanks in advance

From the BA website;

The content of the spray used by British Airways is designated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and is based on the insecticide d-phenothrin. Spray cans contain 2.9% d-phenothrin by weight, 57.1% isoparaffinic solvent and 40% HFC R 134a propellant. A WHO expert committee on the safe use of pesticides has agreed there is no evidence to suggest these insecticides present any toxic hazard to the passengers or crew - provided the correct procedures are followed.

QANTAS and V Australia do not spray the cabin. They use some sort of residual spray. If your friend flew on V Australia she would have to connect in LA with Virgin Atlantic.
