Please help with Crew Levels

Hi Everyone.

The officials at my Union are trying to gather as much relevant information as possible on world wide manning levels for aircraft types, so they can talk to our employer with confidence about what other airlines are doing.

We are mainly looking at the 747 and the B777 as those are the main aircraft we fly.

Could you please help out by stating

- What airline you fly for
- What passenger capacity is on your aircraft (Business and economy)
- And what crewing levels you operate with

I realise this may have been done before but I have searched back and can find little relevant details

Thank you all and Iwe appreciate any help you are able to give with this.

:ok: :ugh: :) :D

Air New Zealand

An explanation of our ranks:
FSM - Flight Service Manager (FA1)
ISC - Inflight Service Coordinator. Runs the Economy service
FAPS - Flight Attendant Premium Service. Works in Business and Premium Economy.
FAPC - Flight Attendant Pacific Class. Works in Economy.

777-200ER
26 Business
18 Premium Economy
269 Economy

10 crew
(FSM x 1, ISC x 1, FAPS x 3, FAPC x 5).
Generally the FSM and ISC will both work in economy for the actual meal services.
We have found this crewing number inadequate. When the aircraft was introduced 2.5 years ago, we even went on strike and one of our main points was that the aircraft should have 11 crew minimum. We weren't able to achieve this goal.

747-400
46 Business
39 Premium Economy
294 Economy

14 crew
(FSM x 1, ISC x 1, FAPS x 6, FAPC x 6)

Hope this helps, and hope you get more crew than we did!

Koru Kid

Thank you very much for your great information. It is very helpful.

I am wondering though with the number of Flight Attendants that visit this site, why the reticence so many seem to have in providing information.

It is after all only to help other Flight Attendants.

Anyhow, thanks again Koru Kid for your help.

Others out there. Get posting. This info will be a great help to us.

:ok:

Middle Eastern Carrier I know of:

777-300
F-12 J-42-Y-310 (3 Class)

F Class = 3 FG1's + 1 PUR
J Class = 3 GR1's + 1 SFS
Y Class = 7 GR2's + 1 SFS

Total = 16 Crew - Pax = 364

777-300
J-42 Y400 (2 Class)

J Class = 1 PUR 1SFS 3 GR1
Y Class = 1 GR1 6 GR2 1 SFS

Total = 12 Crew Pax = 442

400 + pax in EY with only 8 crew. Now thats what I call service with a smile!

CPT5J

AirWorker,

Your Union Officials can contact the airlines direct if they need this sort of information. Personally I don't think giving out that sort of information would be very professional on here.

CPT5J
Is this the voice of experience from your one year's flying experience? :ugh:
You don't know just how devious airlines can be in their attempts to screw personnel over. Unions, while capable of excess on occasion (think Eastern Airlines) are our last and most valuable line of defense against this.

airworker 11th June 2008 23:10

Well CPT5J

I have no idea how giving out information simply about the number of Cabin Crew an airline has on a particular aircraft is unprofessional. But I am sure with the CPT in your nickname you believe you have a greater idea of professionalism than we do.

Thank you to those who have given the info.

As you say korukid, the airlines themselves are not very helpful when approached by a Union representing Cabin Crew so the best scource of obtaining it is on here.

Thanks again.

Come on guys.

Surely others in here have information about the crewing levels on your aircraft.

We cant be the only carrier flying these A/C types.

Look forward to any help.

BA @ LGW

777 - 3 class: Loads: 40J, 24W and 216M - 10 crew (1 cm, 1 prsr, 8 mc)

777 - 4 class: Loads: 14F, 48J, 40W and 124M - 11 crew (1cm, 1 prsr, 9 mc)

I may be a few seats out on the 4 class config in W/M as I haven't been on it for a long time, but you'll get the gist of it.

On 737 it's anything between 5 and 3 crew, although mostly 3 crew.

Gg

Thanks very much Glamgirl

The figures are surprisingly similar to ours.

Anyone else please ???

PC767 22nd June 2008 22:55

Forgive my suspicion but....

..... who exactly are you, why do you need this information and what will you do with it.

Some airlines publish seat plans and crew numbers in their statistics on line and in flight mags so it is not that confidential.

BlueTui 17th July 2008 11:13

At my airline
B733= 4, 1xIFS 3xCC
B738= 5, 1xIFS 4xCC
B757= 6 2xIFS 4xCC(soon to change 1xIFS,5xCC)
B767= 9/10 2xIFS 7xCC/8xCC-Occasionally on Midhaul and selected Long haul, but mainly 9.

At BA LHR WW (can't be bothered to write all the different configs as they vary).

B747: 1 CSD, 3 PSRs & 11 MC. Sometimes 12 MC (flights to MIA for instance).

B767: 1 CSD, 2 PSRs & 5 MC.

B777: 1 CSD, 3 PSRs & 8 MC.

PanAm747LHR 21st July 2008 22:28

at Continental...
777 - 1 ISM, 11 f/a
767-400 - 1 ISM, 9 f/a
767-200 - 1 ISM, 7 f/a
757-200 - 1 ISM, 5 f/a

On all aircraft (except 757-200) there is one f/a who works exclusively in each galley, one for each aisle in the forward cabin, and 2 for each aisle in the main cabin.

(There will always be one less flight attendant when the main cabin load is below 100 pax.)
