I am a Pre-Op Transsexual (Male2Female) and wanting to persue a career as a FA. I live full time as a female and am very very feminine in appearance and attitude.

Are there any airlines that employ transsexuals in my situation?

I hold the highest tier levels with various Frequent Flier programmes
(Air NZ, Qantas, Emirates) demonstrating my passion for being in the air. All of my travels were for pure pleasure or plane rides and not for business.

I am prepared to relocate worldwide and would even work WITHOUT PAY given the opportunity to prove myself. I am independantly wealthy so the pay is of very little to no concern.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of any TS at Air NZ, but surely the major problem would be the passport listing you as a male and you not looking like one. I can just imagine the torture the goons at LAX would put you through.

Anyone got any experience with this one?

Personally, I cant see there being ANY reason as to why you wouldnt be employed!! (except for maybe Koru kids point - But im not sure how the passport thing would work)
I can only assume that it would be on the grounds of discrimination if they were to knock you back soley based on your transsexuality.

At EasyJet in the UK who i work for at the moment there is a Pre op TS working based in Gatwick, from what I could gather from conversations there have been no problems with Airside ID's etc...

to be honest i shouldn't see why it should be a problem anywhere, all companies bang on about equal rights and equal opportunity employers.

As far as I am aware, this woman is actually post op, so is legally a female, and therefore no passport issues.

The UK would definately be a great place to start, and the laws are completely 100% on your side. You could always get some experience here, giving yourself an advantage when you go back to oz.

I fly for a long haul airline in the UK, and I recently flew with one of our recruiters, and she said that the anti-discrimination laws are so strict, that as long as long as you tick the right boxes when it comes to the cabin crew behaviours ( team work, customer service etc), you're in. Race, wieght, age and gender are not and cannot considered at all unless it poses a safety issue.

We have at least one pre-op in BA that I am aware off and she has never had any problems that I am aware of!!!

I am in LAX about 7 times per year and have never had issues with officers regarding my passport in its current state with MALE as gender. (I wish it had FE in the front!! :p) The only thing I notice happen everytime is triple takes, silence then stamp stamp "Good work" and I'm away. Are they trained to say this?? haha.

I have travelled with another Pre-Op transsexual to LAX and her gender is displayed with a "-" DASH and this caused more attention hence I have opted to keep the MALE.

Yer did read that, was just seeking clarification really as there is mention of passport issues in other posts but not the one you were replying to.
