A/C technology

Hello everybody!

I have just work as a cabin crew for few months and really love it. I would like to know something about the aircraft itself. I know which way the handle of the coffee cup should be placed but I would also like to learn the basic things about flying. I mean flaps etc, how does this tube actually stay up there...

Do you know any adddresses in the net that I could look? And, please, the simple ones. You know - The coffee cup handle...

Have a word with any of the folks up at the front end. They will usually be more than pleased that you want to know HOW, and will no doubt explain it all in simple terms.

Best of luck.

Nordic was your interest related to flight?

Or was it about flaps, with tubes staying up?

Maybe if it's the latter, you'd better post on J B. The former, take Doctor Cruces' advice.

Nordic Eagle,
Perhaps you should post your enquiry on the "rumours&news" as well. Give you a bigger pool, as it were?

And as for asking the guys up-front; they usually love to answer any questions, but it's easier to remember and understand things when you see them written down, so I understand what you're looking for. And I would guess there are a lot more of us who'd like a better understanding of what they actually do in between reading checklists and telling a certain type of joke ;)!
Good luck!

Hiya,
You could ask this on the Engineers page......

Only kidding , but we are good at explaining things to pilots............I dont like where this is going so I will shut up now. ;)

In my basic trainning we had an introduction to how and why an aircft. fly's.
What hapened to you when a pax asked for a more specific question??

Like:"What is that hanging in the wing?" :)

G'day Nordic Eagle,
I don't know of any web sites that have simple explanations of thing aeronautic. By all means ask the tech crew about stuff, they should be only to happy tp tell you what you want to know. If you live near an airfield that has an aero club or a flying school, may I suggest a simple introductory flight called a "trial instructional flight" would be perfect. You get to fly the plane with an instructor and s/he will show the basics. In Oz they cost around A$50-70 and go for about 30-45min in a basic trainer. You will learn a lot and I am sure you would enjoy it.
