Wear a suit or not?
 

Hi any comments on what to wear for an interview as cabin crew. Do you think a suit is too much, especially if it's not what I'm used to wearing, and what about linen trousers and tunic- would you say that was too casual? Should hair be tied up do you think even though I'm not very good at it and it would probably just be a pont tail? thanks for your input.

Wear a suit maybe even a scarf...a pony tail is fine just make sure that you hair is neat with no stray hairs popping out. I do recruiting for my current airline...if you look like a flight attendant for your assesment it's easier to picture you in that role. Good luck!

But do not try to match their uniform with the suit you are wearing. EG....If its Aer Lingus...do not wear a green suit, if its virgin...do not wear something red, if its BA....Do not wear a navy pinstripe suit!

Do you think they'd notice if I left the price tag on the jacket sleeve, so I could take it back to the shop after the interview? Just joking! (I think!)

YES PEOPLE FOR THE 100OTH TIME WEAR A SUIT.
You are going for a job where the vast majority of the time you are going to be wearing a suit. You want to show interviewers that you fit the image.
If, for some reason you are so short of cash that you can't buy a cheap suit,wear a skirt / pants and a business shirt.Ties for gents.

or look in charity shops...i expect they are full of suits.

I was employed by two airlines - Ansett (until they went bust) and Virgin Blue, and both times I tried to dress like their flight attendants do... for ansett, I wore a very conservative navy suit, knee length skirt, white shirt, navy scarf... for virgin I wore a camel coloured skirt and white wrap shirt... so while not EXACTLY their uniform, it was pretty close... my philosophy was if I look like an employee of their airline, then they will be more likely to envisage me working there...

I wonder why some suggested other wise?

Fully agree with wearing a suit. At BA we see far to many candidates coming as if they are out for a night on the lash. As said smart business suit with hair contained, worth investing in a suit anyway. Get your mum to go out with you as she should have a conservative view. Hand bag is important too, make sure it is neat and not brim full to the top like wise practical shoes. You probably know this but also research the airline, its grouping, routes and future plans. So many people turn up with little or no knowledge of some of the hard facts, products turnover etc. Good Luck

Very intrigued-what is carbon offsetting? (not going for BA or else I'd obviously know what it is, wouldn't I !!!)
