easyJet is not to everyones taste, but I've been here for 6 years and still think it is a good place to work. Yes we work really hard, but the people I work with are great fun, the money is really good, and I have had some fantastic oppurtunities for career progression. A lot of UK airlines are flying their crew to the maximum 900 hours these days, without some of the rewards easyJet can offer. It is not perfect, but it is slowly getting better. We have had some good pay rises this year and the new uniform is on the way. Yes it is not for everyone, but I like it.

hey guys i still havn't heard anything... what's going on? do they really expect us to wait till the new year to find out... why is it taking soooo long??? i would love to fly with easyjet... i just need to know if i got the job... and the thing is i can't call them b/c if i was to call them my time... their time would be like in the AM period.... maybe the email i sent them previously didn't send??? i just want an answer...

why don't you give them a call if you are that worried?
To be honest I reckon they are just running behind because of christmas and new year. Plus a lot of people are off sick because of the time of the year. If I were you I would wait till the 2nd of January and give them a call if you still haven't heard anything.

Can't tell you why it takes so long but if I were you I would set myself an alarm and would try to call them during office hours and not just leave a message. Just what I would do though. And they can be slow sometimes although that's more the exception then the rule.

The more Aussies at EasyJet, the better in my opinion!;)
STN is also apparently one of the best bases, and they only occaisionally recruit, because no one ever leaves.
I operated a few flights with STN crew, and they were always awesome! They all say it has a real family atmosphere. Only a couple of aussies there though.
To all Aussies going over thought I'd share with you some websites which i found useful.
www.hsbc.co.uk Pretty much the only bank that will give you an account. It's called a passport account. And make sure you get a credit card before you leave australia, for emergencies. UK banks will not give you a credit card for at least the first 12 months normally.
www.gumtree.com flatshares, cars, and heaps of other stuff
www.salonskincare.co.uk Cheap cosmetics, creams and all that crap. eg MD formulations, $80 at my salon in Sydney, $62 at this website. Do not order cosmetics online from outside the uk, as you get charge duty when they arrive.
www.gatwickcrewaccommodation.com Short term crew accommoation (4-6 weeks), near LGW. Bit expensive, and you cannot leave early. Great if you finish training and still haven't sorted anything out.
www.easyjet.com Brng up the route map, and look at all the amazing places you can visit on your staff travel on your days off. One thing I would suggest is start thinking about when you want to take holidays, during training you will be able to book all your leave for at least the next 6 months. If you don't book it, they might just allocate it too you, which might not be convenient. Friend of mine did her training, waited ages for her security clearance, then flew for three days, then went on two weeks allocated leave! She was pissed off!
www.mobileworld.co.uk Cheap prepaid mobile network. Calls to Australia are only 6p per minute, or 15p to a mobile. That's actually cheaper than calling any phone in the UK.
www.letalife.com Rentals and flatshares all around UK. Good website, but to contact the person you have to call a LAPS number, which is bit like a 1900 number.
And last but not least www.aviationjobsearch.com this is for the people who Just Want To Fly but decide that EasyJet isn't for them...

When your friend applies, there is a space in the application form for your name and crew number.

The refer a friend, simply guarantees them a spot at an initial recruitment day. My poor mate got tossed out in the first round, despite having two years flying experience.

This is my first time here,
I work for EZY and am LTN based.

I have an interview for SCCM next week. Just wondering if anyone has been promoted recently if so, can they give an indication of how difficult the exam is?

I have been off work for a long time, so, have to redo the new entrants course, I am currently halfway through that, so won't have done first aid etc before I do my SCCM exam (does this make sense?)

I'm pretty articulate, so am just devouring my manual now...does anyone have any advice, do I need to know my manual inside out, or is it just like the new entrant / refresher exams?

The SCCM's promotion exam isn't too difficult as it is all common sense stuff going over things that can be asked in the pre-flight briefing.

It is multiple choice (like new entrant / refresher exams) and just take your time on it. There is usually one answer that will scream at you.

An example question could be as follows:

The aircraft has taxied to stand after the flight, is the correct process for disarming the door:

a) SCCM Make PA "Crew disarm doors for arrival", disengage girt bar, remove flag from window
b) SCCM Make PA "Crew dirarm doors for arrival", remove flag from window, disengage girt bar
c) Remove flag from window, disengage girt bar, SCCM make PA "Crew disarm doors for arrival"

So, it is all fairly run of the mill stuff that you should know from day to day operations. The First Aid stuff in the exam is not quite so easy, so I would suggest that you do make sure you thoroughly read the First Aid section before taking the exam.
