I walked out after 6 months. Minimum rest, cleaning the aircraft (including a lot of sick!), ALWAYS superfast turnaround. I went out of hours (over legal maximum flying per day) about once every work rota (6 on, 3 off). No nightstops (the fun bit) and no airline concessions (Easyjet only)... |
hey guys i still havn't heard anything... what's going on? do they really expect us to wait till the new year to find out... why is it taking soooo long??? i would love to fly with easyjet... i just need to know if i got the job... and the thing is i can't call them b/c if i was to call them my time... their time would be like in the AM period.... maybe the email i sent them previously didn't send??? i just want an answer...
|
Hi Sara,
why don't you give them a call if you are that worried? To be honest I reckon they are just running behind because of christmas and new year. Plus a lot of people are off sick because of the time of the year. If I were you I would wait till the 2nd of January and give them a call if you still haven't heard anything. Good luck! |
hey dolley... i have but i had to leave a message b/c of the time difference... and they still havn't gotten back to me... well now im just waiting and hopefully they get back to me by the end of next week hey... oh well
|
still havn't heard anything... i have emailed them and no reply and i called them aswell and no call back??? are they still on holidays???
|
Hi Sara,
Can't tell you why it takes so long but if I were you I would set myself an alarm and would try to call them during office hours and not just leave a message. Just what I would do though. And they can be slow sometimes although that's more the exception then the rule. Good luck! |
JOB
I GOT IT.... YYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
i had to call them but i got it. they said i been successful... start on the 20/2 woooooohooooo |
Congratulations and welcome on board Sara :-)
Was worth the wait after all :-) Do you know which base yet? |
yeah ill be based at stansted... so it will be good... whoohoo... now i just have to get visas, living arrangments etc
|
Good Morning Sara, and a very warm welcome onboard this EasyJet flight, shortly departing for London Stansted. Please esure that your Vegemite Jars and Tim Tams are stowed either under the seat in front of you, or in one of the overhead lockers....
:D Congratulations!:D The more Aussies at EasyJet, the better in my opinion!;) STN is also apparently one of the best bases, and they only occaisionally recruit, because no one ever leaves. I operated a few flights with STN crew, and they were always awesome! They all say it has a real family atmosphere. Only a couple of aussies there though. To all Aussies going over thought I'd share with you some websites which i found useful. www.hsbc.co.uk Pretty much the only bank that will give you an account. It's called a passport account. And make sure you get a credit card before you leave australia, for emergencies. UK banks will not give you a credit card for at least the first 12 months normally. www.gumtree.com flatshares, cars, and heaps of other stuff www.salonskincare.co.uk Cheap cosmetics, creams and all that crap. eg MD formulations, $80 at my salon in Sydney, $62 at this website. Do not order cosmetics online from outside the uk, as you get charge duty when they arrive. www.gatwickcrewaccommodation.com Short term crew accommoation (4-6 weeks), near LGW. Bit expensive, and you cannot leave early. Great if you finish training and still haven't sorted anything out. www.easyjet.com Brng up the route map, and look at all the amazing places you can visit on your staff travel on your days off. One thing I would suggest is start thinking about when you want to take holidays, during training you will be able to book all your leave for at least the next 6 months. If you don't book it, they might just allocate it too you, which might not be convenient. Friend of mine did her training, waited ages for her security clearance, then flew for three days, then went on two weeks allocated leave! She was pissed off! www.mobileworld.co.uk Cheap prepaid mobile network. Calls to Australia are only 6p per minute, or 15p to a mobile. That's actually cheaper than calling any phone in the UK. www.letalife.com Rentals and flatshares all around UK. Good website, but to contact the person you have to call a LAPS number, which is bit like a 1900 number. And last but not least www.aviationjobsearch.com this is for the people who Just Want To Fly but decide that EasyJet isn't for them... Good luck, have fun... You will have a ball! |
thanks heaps guys.... i could not have done it without all the info you guys provided me... yay... wooohoooo illl be there soon!!!!!
|
Oh that is fantastic news. Congratulations.
Remember, it is the crew and not the passengers that make the flight! You will love it. Enjoy, and when, if ever, you have a day when you think 'why am I doing this' remember the excitement of when they gave you the 'you got it' call. |

Hey, Ok, so I know the recommend a friend scheme is in Place at EasyJet, and I have a friend who would like to join!
How do I "recommend her to the EasyJet recruiters??! I looked everywhere on Inside Easyjet, but didn't find anything! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, Happy Flying! |

The refer a friend, simply guarantees them a spot at an initial recruitment day. My poor mate got tossed out in the first round, despite having two years flying experience.

Congratulations highflyersara!!!
I did my check flight the other day, the job is amazing!!! Welcome aboard!!! Vectors... :) |
To all the Aussies coming over, one more website which will definately be of use, particularly if you have never packed up and moved overseas before. It has a whole list of things you should organise, and will really help you avoid a mad rush just before you leave.

SCCM help..
Hi everyone,
This is my first time here, I work for EZY and am LTN based. I have an interview for SCCM next week. Just wondering if anyone has been promoted recently if so, can they give an indication of how difficult the exam is? I have been off work for a long time, so, have to redo the new entrants course, I am currently halfway through that, so won't have done first aid etc before I do my SCCM exam (does this make sense?) I'm pretty articulate, so am just devouring my manual now...does anyone have any advice, do I need to know my manual inside out, or is it just like the new entrant / refresher exams? Thanks In Advance |
EzyChic
The SCCM's promotion exam isn't too difficult as it is all common sense stuff going over things that can be asked in the pre-flight briefing. It is multiple choice (like new entrant / refresher exams) and just take your time on it. There is usually one answer that will scream at you. An example question could be as follows: The aircraft has taxied to stand after the flight, is the correct process for disarming the door: a) SCCM Make PA "Crew disarm doors for arrival", disengage girt bar, remove flag from window b) SCCM Make PA "Crew dirarm doors for arrival", remove flag from window, disengage girt bar c) Remove flag from window, disengage girt bar, SCCM make PA "Crew disarm doors for arrival" So, it is all fairly run of the mill stuff that you should know from day to day operations. The First Aid stuff in the exam is not quite so easy, so I would suggest that you do make sure you thoroughly read the First Aid section before taking the exam. Good luck! :ok: |

Sorry to butt in. I did the recommend a friend thing, but my friend didn't get to the asessment day. From what I understood, the recommend a friend thing just meant I got £200 when she finished her probation (or training one or the other). Being reccommended didn't get her anything. |
Thank you
Thanks getoutofmygalley,
going to go study my manual some more, suppose reading it through a few times is the best I can do huh? Thanks again for your help. |

As long as they meet the minimum requirements she/he should have gotten an interview. My friend waited ages, so I sent them an email asking about the progress of her application. She got an invitation two days later. Like many things at the Academy, things are a little bit disorganised - ie. recruitment and ID department... |
Hi,
she mustn't have had the minimum requirements then I guess. I thought she did have, she's my age and has 7 years in customer service...Maybe she was just cr*p at filling in application forms. Who knows. Either way they sent her an email saying she'd been unsuccessful. She was gutted! She'd told everyone she was applying too. Think she's applying to every airline going now. Bless |
there's heaps recruiting at the moment so she should be fine, otherwise she can apply for ez again soon enough.
|
Hi,
I think it' 6 months to reapply isn't it? I might ask her if she wants me look over her application form next time, as I've probably got a better idea of what they want to see. Oh well, fingers crossed for her huh. Anyone else got any tips for an SCCM interview? I have read, reread and read again my manual, but I'm already very nervous, I know I shouldn't be. Anyone...help. One of the parts of the interview (when I was interviewed at least) was the day from hell. Basically, they will go through a day with you where everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Assume everything on here is for a 737 rated crew member: It will start in the crew room at briefing time where a crew member doesn't turn up on time, when they do arrive their uniform isn't too standard (or their makeup) - what do you do? You then have a crew member who has an inadequate knowledge of SEP or First Aid - what do you do? Crewing try to persuade you to take the crew member with inadequate knowledge of SEP or First aid, because the flight will be delayed 90mins and there is a departure slot - what do you do? Down route the APU is non-op and the aircraft has a departure slot. The Captain wants to board the pax as normal but the slot is 2 hours - how will you handle this, especially as the cabin is getting so hot. During the return flight 2 of the cabin crew have an arguement, causing a scene - how will you handle this? What will your actions be? Back at base the Captain decides that he didn't like the way you went about things with him re: the non-op APU and orders you into the flight deck whilst pax are disembarking - what do you do? This is the type of events that might be thrown at you, they do have a number of different scenarios that they can use. They will be testing your knowledge of your SOP's and your CRM skills. Make sure that you think about each answer before saying it, remembering that you must always adhere to SOP at all times whilst making sure that you maintain the CRM between the cabin crew and flight deck. If you have been flying for a while, the SCCM's "day from hell" shouldn't phase you too much :) |
Ok...
arrrrgh..I haven't flown for ages, lol. How do these answers sound? It will start in the crew room at briefing time where a crew member doesn't turn up on time, when they do arrive their uniform isn't too standard (or their makeup) - what do you do? If it's rectifiable get them to sort it out- if not (eg they have turned up in jeans or something ridiculous, there is no spare uniform about in the crew room etc) call crewing and see how quicky we can get a standby out. Either way, address them, away from the other crew member(s). You then have a crew member who has an inadequate knowledge of SEP or First Aid - what do you do? Try and rephrase the question(s), put them another way etc, if their knowledge is inadequate sadly it would have to be an offload and BCCM notified. Crewing try to persuade you to take the crew member with inadequate knowledge of SEP or First aid, because the flight will be delayed 90mins and there is a departure slot - what do you do? Tough, it's a 90 minute delay! I would rather take the crew member with dodgy makeup then someone with inadequate SEP knowledge. Eitherway there is no way I would take someone who possibly wouldn't know what to do in an emergency (the way this day is going you know something'll happen). Maybe a matter of boarding whilst waiting for the third crew member etc so we can leave as soon as they have been briefed, but there would be no way I would leave with a member with inadequate knowledge. Down route the APU is non-op and the aircraft has a departure slot. The Captain wants to board the pax as normal but the slot is 2 hours - how will you handle this, especially as the cabin is getting so hot. Ask the captain if there are any other options? Is there a likelihood the slot will be bought forward? If so, go ahead and board, if not suggest we wait until closer the slot time, as the cabin is getting hot and if we're running around sorting out pax etc we can't be making him/her nice cups of tea and bringing him/her some water. If (s)he still insists on boarding then board. Have one crew member offering water, make PAs to apologise for temperature....explain we are waiting for a slot to come forward (hopefully). During the return flight 2 of the cabin crew have an arguement, causing a scene - how will you handle this? What will your actions be? Take the crew concerned to the rear galley, have a word about proffessionalism etc, apologise to any pax that saw the 'scene', but try not to make a big deal out of it. Report both crew members to BCCM, during the debrief make them both aware that this is totally unacceptable behavior. (Is there a form to fill out like a CSR in this situation?) Back at base the Captain decides that he didn't like the way you went about things with him re: the non-op APU and orders you into the flight deck whilst pax are disembarking - what do you do? Let him know I am disembarking and will go into see him as soon as possible......(Spit in his cup of tea next time I fly with him...only kidding). Listen to what he says and take i on board, explain to him why I took the actions I did. I know there's probably no right/wrong answers here, but do these sound OK? Cheers EzyChic |

Quite good answers there, except I did things slightly differently (as follows): It will start in the crew room at briefing time where a crew member doesn't turn up on time, when they do arrive their uniform isn't too standard (or their makeup) - what do you do? I did as you said and got them to rectify the uniform (if possible). If they could not rectify I would have had to offload them. I also made a point of saying that I would take the crew member to one side and asking them if there was a reason for them being late (they might have had their car break down and had to fix it - hence uniform not to standard) and offering them an ear if they needed it - this went down well as it was considered good CRM. You then have a crew member who has an inadequate knowledge of SEP or First Aid - what do you do? Your answer is correct, but make sure that you say "I would take the crew member to one side and inform them they are being offloaded, I would then inform the Captain of the reasons for offload and tell the Captain that you are about to contact Crewing" and also say you would contact the BCCM Crewing try to persuade you to take the crew member with inadequate knowledge of SEP or First aid, because the flight will be delayed 90mins and there is a departure slot - what do you do? Spot on answer given, under no circumstances do you take someone who has shown inadequate SEP or First Aid. Crewing have no rights to put pressure on you and if they do the crewing officer could end up in a lot of bother (especially as NMC phone calls are recorded :p ) Down route the APU is non-op and the aircraft has a departure slot. The Captain wants to board the pax as normal but the slot is 2 hours - how will you handle this, especially as the cabin is getting so hot. You could also ask the Captain if there is any way that the handling agents could (if the aircraft has closed up) get steps back so that you can have D1L & D2L open, this will create air movement in the cabin making it more bearable but the rest of your answer is good but dont say the tea/coffee thing. During the return flight 2 of the cabin crew have an arguement, causing a scene - how will you handle this? What will your actions be? Do everything you have done, but I would not say that part about not making a big thing out of it. The crew have behaved in a totally unacceptable way and you need to find try to find out what the reasons for the argument were - remember you can always offload back at base (if doing a 4 sector day). Also, as these 2 crew are going to be sharing a jumpseat together on landing (critical phase of flight) you need to be sure that the argument won't kick off again. Defo raise in debrief (if you don't offload) and tell the BCCM. Back at base the Captain decides that he didn't like the way you went about things with him re: the non-op APU and orders you into the flight deck whilst pax are disembarking - what do you do? Good answer, but make sure you say that you have to be by your door in case an emergency situation arises, once the pax are off you will be in to see him immediately. Remember to sound confident as you give your answers (confident not smug) and make sure you say WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR. For example the arguing crew, if it was minor you may not go as far as telling the BCCM (in real life) but the interviewer will want to hear from you that you will tell the BCCM. Anything else, let me know :ok: |
Cheers...
the 'don't make a big deal of it' thing I meant to the pax, obviously I'd make a huge deal with the crew involved. Recon the exam is passable for someone just reading the manual? That is my biggest worry, I have got half way through redoing the new entrants course, but it looks like all/most of the FAID stuff has changed, of course I will have to sit this exam before I do my FAID training. Did you find out the same day if you had passed the interview stage, or did they make you wait? Where are you based btw? |
just out of curiosity, what is BCCM??
|
Base Cabin Crew Manager = Head of Cabincrew at the base
:) |
Ahh ok! Thanks!

I found out the following day :) And I am based @ LGW :) |
Okies,
wish me luck, sure I'll be back before my interview with mre silly questions. I haven't had an interview since my interview with easyJet and that was a looong time ago (or so ity seems). Thanks for everything |
ezychick and getoutofmygalley:
As far as I know they don't do 'day of a senior' anymore. Instead they ask you 5 questions like: Have you ever been in the situation where you had to motivate other people? or Tell us about a time when you recieved good/bad customer service. How did that make you feel and how was the situation resolved? So pretty much they ask questions that are supposed to show your skills in certain areas. An OPM advised me to write down a list of skills that they are looking for in a senior like 'leadership''teamwork''problemsolving' and so on and have an example answer ready for each skill. Good luck ezychick! |
This thread has becime quite large now, so for housekeeping reasons, and for ease of use, it is now being closed and a new thread opened.
There are in fact, two new threads - one for use by those who may be seeking work with easyJet and have questions about the recruiment process, and the other for those who are actually employed as Crew by easyJet to discuss issues affecting their work. So please choose the appropriate thread, either easyJet - Wannabees & Recruitment or easyJet - Crew Discussions |
