:( Excellent customer service has two requirements:
1.Happy motivated staff 2.Adequate resources to do the job. Qantas`service failures are now endemic 1.Insufficient staff for service delivery 2.AVOD/IFE have a reliability of around 60% 3.20% of pax miss out on meal choice 4. On time departures decreasing network wide 5.Unhappy "disengaged" staff company wide The "flex and grind" continuous service is now creating an unsafe working environment as crew now operate into the "fatigue Zone" The new staff survey will be far worse than the one before. No one at executive level seems aware of this.Either that or they just simply don`t care. Qantas now has absolutely nothing to do with customer service at any level. It is now nothing more then second rate transport,deteriorating rapidly to third rate. It has only 28% of traffic into and out of Australia. Management is hell bent on destroying shareholder value. Anyone who flies Qantas should lower their expectations by at least 50% in order to enjoy the total experience. The current employees company wide have my heartfelt sympathy. A once proud happy company being decimated by a flock of dysfunctional,remorseless,self absorbed swine masquerading as management:( |

I have to say,being a flight attendant is the best paid unskilled job there possibly could be. And for so few hours . I did it for 20 years before the gravy train went bust and I had to find a real job. It makes me laugh to hear you whining about pay and conditions etc etc . Ask any of the old An crew who used to whinge and whine about similar things . Those gripes seem so petty now. I have a cuz working in SYD for Q.F. He has nothing to do with flight ops , but spent several years at night school to get a masters ( business degree) . He is,I guess, one of these overpaid managers that some flight attendants here pour scorn on. He is on 70 k a year , and works a heap of overtime-unpaid of course because he is on a salary. At a barbie recently with a couple of Long Haulers present the late night conversation came a up about comparative wages , conditions etc and he was astounded at the money they made . Interestingly , from his and other department's perspective, long haul F/A's are the most privileged , pampered and overpaid emloyees in the company so don't expect much sympathy from them when the inevitable happens.
I wish you well in the real world --from the endless diatribe I read from a few regular posters here I suspect many of you will not cope when Qanjet*rules the roost and G.D has left to wreak havoc at the retirement village. |

Priapism here is a bit of reality
QF cabin crews are amongst the cheapest in the OECD and also are very competetive against most (not all) major asian/ middle east carriers. also Europa,Asia and the US have a highly regulated cabin crew environment (flight duty limitations, monthly, yearly flight limits) . you either have never flown or had no idea what was going on ( a sad tail if you really flew 20 years). there are also many qf cabin crew who have uni / other degrees (same as your cuz)and provide qf management with an ongoing stream of ideas how to improve the business (it does take time to implement because the black hole in sydney is getting bigger by the minute).as i keep saying qf crews are paid ok but nothing to write home about(taking all relevant facts into consideration).:ok: |

* Away from loved ones for long periods of time. * Jet Lag/time change. * Feeling like crap after operating a LAX -14 hr TOD. * Putting up with 400 pax for extended periods of time. * Being exposed to radiation, illness, disease + sickness. * Operating into and out of high crime areas, potential terror targets. * Staying proficient in operational safety. *Working bloody hard. OK FAAA I have just go back from LAX and the big buzz word up there was that you guys are now funding the appeal for those 2 CSS's that were dismissed by the company recently for a long list of infractions (not small ones)
