Hi
Hi
Im TCX Crew It all depends on which base you have applied for.. Im at BHX so only Aircraft we have is 2 757-200 in a 235 config and once a week we have a 757-200 in a 187 config this operates to YYZ all other routes are short haul and all are there and back in one day.. Our YYZ trips are on a Saturday we did have a Fri flight too but we lost that to MAN ( Typical eh??) The YYZ trip we do is as follows... BHX/YYZ then Air Canada to YUL then YUL/LGW then coach back to BHX - and thats the only long haul we do...... At LGW MAN you will do more Canada and if on the a330 you will do long haul as well.. TCX is a great company we get fantastic staff discounts and at BHX we have a superb crew and the morale is good too we have some lovely people work there and our managers are great too. The only downside I can think of is that because at BHX we have a great crew NO ONE moves on and it takes years to be made permanent !! apart from that I love it here.. If you apply to MAN LGW you will prob have better chance of getting a perm contract and much quicker.... As mentioned above go to CC.com and you will see lots of TCX crew on there. Good Luck. |
Hi
I see TCX are recruiting for EMA for crew in 2006, i believe this is the first time they have recruited for EMA as a base, i was told they use BHX and MAN crew to operate from there at the moment and they only have 1 aircraft based at EMA. So does this mean they will have a proper base at EMA next year? ie: even the winter period ? any help would be really appreciated indeed. Mike |

Hi Buddy
Where do you get your info from ????????? There is 1 x A320 at EMA and we have a base there every summer and it is crewed by Pursers/Cabin Managers who live local to EMA but come back to BHX in winter all the crew are ALWAYS recruitied for EMA from around the local area....EMA is not an all year base but there is talk of it been extended this year fro EG March to November instead of just summer months. The EMA base has a new SDM - Service Delivery Manager who has just transeffered over from BHX and is fantastic and doing VERY well. |
Hi
Many thanks for your reply ! So if you apply for next year you may be able to start in March and finish in Nov ? do you know what the chances are of being taken on permanatly ? from the sounds of it, not that good,as BHX sounds a nice base and the chances of being taken on is very low, why don't they have a all year round base at EMA ? Thanks |
Hey Mike...
I was on the Intranet a couple of days a go and someone asked this same question - Thomas Cook Tour Operations do not have the capacity to warrant an AC from EMA...
I was told in my interview that there would be NO chance of been kept on after the first season - lol at least they were honest. I have a friend who lives near to EMA and has been flying for 5 summers now at EMA and has not had a sniff of perm so she has now transferred to us at BHX for this summer... Is a possibility that the flying will start in March next year nothing is confirmed yet - but if you wanna trey get applying - first to be interviewed will be on first training courses... If im honest tho - at BHX in the winter the rostas have hardly any flights in winter maybe 3-4 max tonnes of stand by's so the money is a bit pants - I however went to work for Thomas Cook retail and got continuous service and also all my staff discounts so i had the best of both worlds and i earned more than the crew in the winter... EMA is also a lovely base with great crew and a good morale they fly on the a320 and have 4 or maybe 5 crew on it.... Hope that helps a bit |
Hi wan2fly
Many thanks for the info, so you do the summer season and then in Nov time, it's bye bye !!! or if you are lucky you can work in one of there shops till you fly again, that sounds good, wonder if you would get that at EMA ? You have been very helpful indeed, so many thanks to you. What is a typical roster like for the summer and also what is the pay like there ? One last one, where do you do your training ? Mike |
Certainly can back up that BHX was (hopefully still is a great base) Unfortunately as mentioned summer contracts seem to be the rule which was a shame even if you were with the company for a long time. Can I just ask is the new SDM in EMA a certain Mr A Turnaround?? If it is then thats really great news been there a long time and deserves it. Anyhow BRGDS and good luck up there for the rest of the summer.

Hey
Money is good - although this year we have more crew and money is less than last year - We can bid for flights though and swaping flights is really easy so you can get extra flights - I have just come off a RHO night flight that I took from someone else - ( AM I MAD !!) - We do lots of nights so that makes you tired - eg.. Fri - BHX/DLM/BHX got back at 0700 then same night I did an IBZ and got back at 0300 on Monday morn then had 2 days off and I have just done RHO night flight and got home at 0800 this morn I am on a lovely MAH tomorrow nice times then a YYZ and YUL on Sat I get home Monday and have 2 days off then a ACE Thursday and then that DLM friday....its a very varied rosta tho i like it.. On average we work 16 days a month including stand by but as I say you can bid for flights and swap and change as long as we give one weeks notice... Salary is basic plus 12% commission and flight pay on top - The most I brought home last summer was approx £1400... I have never flown with Sced airline but i would guess that Charter is much harder work - as we do lots of services and the cabin presence is always there - even on a PMI we do 5-6 services and thats a two hour flight... EG - Last night RHO... Headset service with snacks / Drinks / Wine / Scratchcards / Meal / tea and coffee / Clear in / Tax free / Drinks / clear in then land turn around was 40-45 mins then did it all again on way home !!!!! What was funny we had 5 blokes on the flight ( crew) and the CM was female - was really funny but we had a fantastic flight and was good fun too... Our Training was in BHX hotel and all wet drills and slides done at BY at EMA... Working in stores is open to all staff - I went on a one day course last year in NOV and there were two crew from EMA going in to shops in Leicester and Derby... Hope that helps ! Standard Jet - Not sure who you mean !!!! MR "F" has gone to EMA - was a CM/Purser at BHX he DEFFO deserves it we all really miss him at BHX loved flying with him but he is doing really well.... |
Hi wan2fly
You have been brill, thanks for all your help, well i have just applied for it now, so fingers crossed. I have applied for EMA base and hopfully try and get a job over winter in the shops. Wish me luck and you never know,we may end up on a RHO together. P.S what is YYZ ? where is that ? Mike |
hi
Hi No probs
YYZ = Toronto and YUL = Montreal..... Well done for applying now - Interviews are easygoing but DONT be fooled about what they are looking for its a crafty way of interviewing people and I take my hat off to them !!!! ;) |
has any of you flown with oggs
|
Hi there no i think we were thinking of 2 different people I worked at the bhx base in the summer of 2002 when it was JMC and thought that andy who was asr at the time might have gone to EMA. Only left TC last year (not BHX) as no permanent contract was offered AGAIN. So I think iI know who you might be talking about. Anyhow glad all is well there.
