Tcx A330
I am going away with Thomas Cook next month, the a/c on the route is the A330. I was just wondering what the a/c are like having never operated one. Are the screens for the IFE in the ceiling or the seat backs? Also, where would be the best place to sit? There are 2 of us going.
Thanks in advance for the info, happy flying all!!! |
A330
Off Stand.
Hi, what a charming question! Although I'm not adequately "in the know" regarding the Airbus A330, I can tell you what I think maybe correct. I believe the IFE screens are in the seat backs. As regards to seating - well it depends on whether you wish to look over the wing or at the rear of the turbine! I also believe TCX have the "Premier Class" (or called some other name) on their fleet, this is the front section of the aircraft and for an extra payment on booking you get the luxuary of larger pithced seats and maybe a more personal touch from the cabin crew, also sitting forward of the engines means you can listen to the "buzz" of the fan blades! (how sad!) However, I'm sure there is somebody on PPRUNE who is "current" on an A330 who can give you a much more accurate picture/description of the aircraft and the best place to sit. Enjoy your flight. Brian. |
Thanks for that. I'm crew on th B777, and as mad as it sounds, I'm not bothered about an exit row, but maybe somewhere there are just two seats together at towards the back.
I was also wondering what the food is like and how much the drinks cost? I know it all sounds quite lame, but i wanna prepare myself. Laters. |
A330
Off Stand:
Can't imagine the B777 differs much from the A330, possibly 2 seats together at or towards the rear I would imagine. Charter flight drinks etc, must be the usual £3.00 for a spirit + £1.00 for mixer, Pringles at £1.00 etc etc - good god, I sound like cabin crew there! (although I treat all my crew with respect as we ARE a team) Were are the A330 flight deck/cabin crew - HELP! This thread will be swamped by morning. Cheers |
Hi there,
i'm currently working for TCX and i could inform you about prices onboard. Mixers= 0.70 Miniatures (gin, vodka, whisky... except baileys)= 2.80 Beer= 2.5 REmeber, headsets are not free. So, if you dont want to spend 2.75, you better take your own headsets with you. They'll work onboard.... but if you want them to work in stereo, you'll have to purchase 1 adaptor which costs you £1. I'm not operating on the 330 yet, that's why i cant really tell you where to find a good seat. ah, screens are in every single seat; very personalised. enjoy your trip! |
hey there,
I just got back from Puerto Plata yesterday on the A330. You get the IFE on seatbacks as already mentioned!!!). If you are gonna bring your own headset they have to have two "pins"if theats what you want to call them. I'd say the best place to sit is...anywhere really. I was seated right at the back of the plane when i went to puerto plata, and I had lots of room. The aircraft is generally quiet, so there shouldn't be a problem with the noise. The "premier class" isn't all that really, just green leather seats with HUGE armrests and lots of fruit punch!!!! lol Have a safe flight!!!! |
Cheers BYBOY. I was thinking of going for the back of the a/c anyway. Flew on an Aer Lingus A330 4 years ago, sounds like a similar seat layout.
|
Thomas Cook have seat maps on their website: http://www.thomascookairlines.co.uk/Boeing_A330.htm. Configuration is 3-3-3 although from row 39 back it changes to 2-3-2 due to the A330's shape. So if you wanted seats with just the two of you take row 39-43.
|
IMHO the two outer seats at Row 39 is probably best due to the taper of the tail - that's where the aisle is widest, so you can veg out without getting battered by bar carts and the likes!!! :p
Enjoy your trip!! :ok: |
Thankyou for all of your info guys, it is really appreciated. I hope to be able to look after you on one of my flights soon.
