Reference checks 4 airside pass
Hi Guys,
Wondering if anyone can help me with this subject? Am through to the final stages with QF and now need to go about getting verification for airside passes etc.... This worries me as I have had quite a 'busy' few years employment wise....none of this through any fault of my own I hasten to add, just been very unlucky with work and deciding what I want from life! Had several months off to travel, was made redundant along with entire management team of previous company (no-one there at the moment will know who the hell I am)...Boss at company before that hated me!! blah blah blah...... All of this coupled with various 'short' periods of unemploment that I cannot account for as I never claimed any benefits or signed on the dole etc.... What I want to know, is what information do I need to provide, will they need to account for every day of my life almost for the past 5 or is it, 10 years? Do the ex employers that respond need to say how wonderful I am or just confirm that I worked for them for the dates stated...what if they refuse altogether? Am really concerned that my past history is going to put a spanner in the works of achieving my dream job and a path to contentment!! Any advice from those in the know is welcomed with open arms.... Thanks guys in advance....:O |
Qantas will also want to check your references out. This is usually in addition to your airside pass.

I have no probs with getting references for Qantas (current employer and previous employer) its all the stuff before that that worries me.....
Am I worrying unneccesarily? anyone ever been turned away because of this? |
Hi RobT
Dont worry about it all too much, I was in and will be in the same position. I have been to uni and had a million and one differrent part time jobs while there which i need references for again. I did struggle but managed to get it all sorted. As said earlier on make sure you have someone (family friend etc) to be your reference for any employment gaps. They just have to say they know where you were when not employed. Think you need these references if the gap has been more than 5 days. (not 100% sure on that) Best thing to do is write down all your places of work and dates of joining and leaving on a piece of paper and put down what employment gaps there are and why. It just makes it all easier for you for when your filling out the form on thurs. But try to relax about it all. Im in the exact same position as you. Is your medical on thurs? |
Yeah, I have to be at the hotel in Kensington at 1pm tomorrow for medical etc.....guess I will see you there? Yours at the same time?
Thanks for the reassurance by the way, spose I'm just being paranoid........just dread the thought of being dropped over something like this after all the hard work! See ya tomorrow.......sure we will stand out as we'll be the ones crossing our legs and busting for a p:mad: s!!!! Remember now, no going to the toilet b4 your medical!!! :D :D |
Mine is at 2pm so may see you there.
Im jusy tryin not to worry about it all. Did you give them 2refs to check when they rang you to say you were through to the medical? |
Yup! Done that!
Will probably see you on Thursday then....how will I recognise you? God, this sounds like some cheesey blind date LMAO :p Will you be carrying a copy of the times under your left arm or will it be the flower in your lapel? :} :} :} |
