panda-k-bear - Let's imagine that you're responsible for Cabin Crew recruitment, there's one place vacant, and you've got a choice of two people where both are ace at all the safety stuff and in all other issues they're practically identical. However one is a minger and the other is a babe. So which one are you going to pick for the job ?
|
Oh come now, DA, not very likely is it. There will be something else that separates them. Demeanour, perhaps. One thing I've run into several times is that good looking people tend to know it - usually a little too much. 9 times out of 10, the minger will be more pleasant and will try harder - the beautiful one has never had to. IF they were equally capable of doing the job,I'd pick the one with the most pleasant attitude, not the one who looks the best. Maybe I'm perculiar, but that's the way I see it. Chances are I'd never see the crew member again anyway, so what is gained by picking a pretty one?
chrstep, Generally agree, 'cept I avoid Air France at all costs cos I detest CDG. I can honestly say that the attractiveness of the cc has never influenced my selection of carrier - and I am similar to you in that I travel frequently in the front of the bus long haul, but probably doubling that 100 000 miles. If I'm satisified with a carrier's safety, then yes, service and reputation is next in line. Trouble is it takes an incident like the one I referred to to reveal how safe an airline really is by revealing its flaws. Haven't flown with them since that happened... Not only the cc issue, but the CRM up front sounded pretty darn frightening too, but it's not something that I, as a non-pilot be still heavily involved in the industry, would have known about. |
panda-k-bear - Hypothetical as it might be, please don't duck the question - wherein I did say that the two were identical in every way except their looks and, on that basis, which would you pick ?
|
I wouldn't give a monkey's either way, quite frnakly. Probably have to toss a coin.
|
Probably have to toss something!:ooh:

Had the Virgin FA philosophy explained to me by one of their pilots the other day. While I am very glad my company doesn't do it that way, it sounded to me like Virgin FAs know exactly what they get into, what the company's aims and ideas are, and what is in it for the FAs.
Virgin, (acc to this chap) looks for young attractive people, easily smart enough to do their SEPs, with an outgoing personality and a fresh aproach to giving service. Young people who do not intend to make a career of being an FA, but who want to travel the world for a few years and then get into 'real' careers. As he said: " We don't pay them enough to make it worth their while staying, but we do make sure we have on every flight at least one senior old enough to bring to the operation the amount of life and FA experience necessary for an overall good and safe product." One can argue about the truth and wisdom of that ( Flyblue & I did just that and he gave as good as he got ;) ) but it works for Virgin and it works for those who FA with Virgin. We all have the choice of who we fly with as pax, and no one has ever been forced to accept a job with Virgin either. Different strokes .................... :p |
The above makes good sense! If you don't like it - leave! Life is too short to be miserable anyway. Move to Florida and live with us! (The sun shines most of the time!)
 |
Why do people feel compelled to tell us they travel in First..... like that has any relevance to the post.... God I'm bored....
|
I know - I have no time for show off's! Bored = yes aren't we all?
|
The point I was trying to make by mentioning First is that it is my own money, not a company's, and quite a lot of it, so I'm going to pick airlines carefully so I get what I want. And attractive cabin crew is part of that - ones whose actions tell me that they are there primarily to make my flight as enjoyable as possible, rather than those who get the whole flight off to a bad start by telling me they are their primarily for my safety - that's not what I pay the extra above economy fares for.
|
And why do they feel the need to then tell us it's their own money? Somebody needs to get out more. Preferably in the privately purchased Aston :p
A good looking crew is not the reason to choose a particular airline but it's a nice side benefit. :) Much more important though is how they treat people and interact with pax. Couple of brain cells beats a couple of nice **** any day. CS |
hey calm down boys and girls, this is a bulletin board for people to put their opinions. All Christep is doing is qualifying his reasoning, I can't see any boasting in his replies. I'd say it was you guys who had the problem.
Christep said 'quality of service' which 'included how good looking the cabin crew were'. So 'good looks' are not the prime and only reason for his choices, but they are contributory. What is wrong with that? I can think of some lovely looking cabin crew that were hopeless at their job, and I can also think of some average lookers that had such a 'you'd better be PC or else' attitude that they were also hopeless. It is a contributory factor that's all. edited to add cargosales are you really suggesting that good looking cabin crew cannot also have brain cells? |
absolutely not, plenty I know have great looks, great attitude and brain cells :)
CS |
Whats all this got to do with my orginal question??
BB :bored: |
Well I guess the lack of replies from Virgin crew probably means they aren't as wound up about it as you.
Could be the end of the thread then !! |
It's about time!
 |
Seeing as Virgin were the airline who were going to have urinals in their exec loung shaped liked womens lips, it can only be suggested that RB will truly stop at nothing in his quest for PR.
It seems the more tawdry and sleazy, the better, from this latest venture. :yuk: Poor crew. |
Hmmm from that response you'd never guess you worked for BA :D :D
|
A matter of opinion I'd say anti-ice!!
Branson must be doing something right due to the huge success his airline has had. It might not be in everyone's tastes, but it's AMUSING and it sells!! If the PC brigade got their paws on every bit of distasteful comedy these days, we wouldn't be laughing at anything. So wind your necks in and see it for what it is. Poor crew? What a load of old tripe!! :D :D :D |
I notice you are a fan of 'Little Brittan' Anti-Ice!! That is a show which parodies all manner of situations, and is occassionally quite lewd, so I guess it is just VS in total that you don't like.
