What Do Cabin Crew Do After Flying?!?
 

Hey Guys!

Just thinking of what Cabin Crew do after flying? I am not thinking of giving up just yet.

However, the job is so diverse and I think it looks good on ones CV. What do you think?

I know a lot of Crew join the Police force etc.

I wonder what the ideal job would be for an ex CC member?

The lifestyle is so addictive and people are fun..............But what if one day you/we were to give it up.

What would you do????

Last week i met a gorgeous, kind of ex-hostie, who is a PA to my AME. At the weekends she still works as a hostie but, in the corp environment.


An ex-hostie friend of mine is now working for a train company and as on-board hostie.

I've not heard the police angle, as yet.

I work as a doctor.
The hospital I worked at last year had 2 other ex-FAs - one doctor, one nurse.
From my friends (some of whom have been forced into other employment), some are nurses, some are parents, others work in hospitality industry; some even work for rival airlines, as ground staff.
I bump into ex-FAs everywhere, doinf all manner of things - like most everything else in life, you can do it, all you have to do is give it a go!
And yes, it DOES look good on the CV, and is always an excellent conversation starter!

I gave it up to follow my heart and live in Oz. In my year that I've been here, I've worked in a cafe, was a tv extra, concierge and as a porter in a 5* hotel.

I think with determination, you can apply yourself to almost anything if you have the inclination and determination. My best friend back home left flying to become an estate agent and she's now a police officer.

Rabid Dog, I agree with you, it's definitely a conversation starter! Some people frown when you actually tell them that it's not as glamourous as they think and tell them the reality of it all. That said, I had a fantastic 9years. As for the ideal job for ex CC, well it could be anything your heart desires.

I gave it up due to lack of movement from within at the time, still sometimes regret it.

I left too work offshore as an Engineer for an Oil Company based in Aberdeen, slight change of path i'm sure you will agree! :eek:

My wife (who i used to fly with) is now a Sales Exec and a lot of our friends are now in the Real Estate game, still making contact with the public.

Definitely a conversation starter!! The boys offshore still haven't dropped it after 3 years, i enjoy banter the though!!:ok:

Hmmm, hooker worked well for me, then real estate.
many find real estate the answer.

Cabin crew.... all things to all people.

Moved to the country and went back nursing!!!!

Well i work with a couple of ex-hosties (BCAL and flightline) at scotland yard.

we deal with 999 calls, despatch even Heathrow Airport emergencies too!

they seem to enjoy it there!

I think it looks good on your CV only when it applies to the job you are applying for. I agree with the other points about doing whatever you set your heart to do but do it early!! You don't want to wake up at 40 and think: Ok, now what? That might be ok in the US but here in the UK we're an ageist society and breaking into other areas with only cabin crew experience isn't going to be beneficial.
