"Summer" Weather?
 

It still astounds me, the stupidity of some pax. In the last week we have (in the UK) had some pretty wierd weather. And delays have followed. But when pax are sitting on the a/c the rain is lashing down, crackles of thunder in the distance, and they still scoff at you when say the delays are caused by weather!!

Are they completely stupid? Sure we're going to take off on time, fly straight into that thunder cloud and then plummet to the ground through windshear.

But of course it only my airline it affects as we enjoy getting delayed and the other flights that are delayed on the departure screens are mearly mistakes!

Im sure that for many cabin crew the last week of "summer" weather has been a testing time for alot of us, i just wish that we could educate the few pax that have absoulutley no idea what they are talking about, or better still, strap them to the wing so they can feel the full force of the "summer" weather!

If we're doing chest lightening here, let me add one of my pet hates, happened again today. :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, the aircraft is ready, you are ready and the crew is ready. But due to the busy skies over Europe today, Air Traffic Control, the guys and gals in the tower, have given us a so called slot. Which means that we will be allowed to start the engines in 20 minutes from now, and will be in the air 5 mins later.
We know that many of you have a connecting flight, so the pilots will do everything in their power to make our arrival time as close as possible to the one on your ticket. Right now, we do not know when we will be in XYZ.
As soon as the Captain has a definite arival time, he will let us all know. So please be patient, as soon as we know anything, we will tell you!

Walking down the aisle after this announcement, HALF, I kid you not, we're talking 50 % here, of the pax goes: "Miss, I have a connection out of XYZ, when do we land and do you think I will make it??"
While staying polite pleasant and patient because I do understand their anxiety, in my head I would like to scream something like:
" I dont fecking know when we land and I just told you so . In 3 :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: languages, speaking slooooooowly and clearly. You're either deaf or stupid, and I think it's the last"


AAAhhhh, chest considerably lighter, thank you EB! ;)

I really think we should begin the check in procedure not with a security question but an IQ test, if they fail the test they're shipped of to DHL or UPS to be put into large containers and transported that way!! Make my day soooo much easier! :E

Or they should have educational adverts on TV to show the pax that each airline doesn't have its own Air Traffic Control Tower and that everyone no matter what airline has to wait for slots, weather, ground staff, gates etc. Although we dont want to confuse the poor pax too much!

But then if every day were the same i dont think i would enjoy the job as much..............actually i might take that back lol!

In a strange way, I've quite enjoyed the last few weeks' worth of severe weather; I've enjoyed watching thunderstorms (albeit from some form of safe shelter) since I was small, and the big, powerful storms we've had here in the south of the UK have been very impressive to watch.

They have posed somewhat of a challenge in the air though...found myself doing the splits in the rear galley whilst trying to drink a cup of tea... :\

Ouch!! I hope your ok. I had the same experience on YD (which is one a/c worthy of being scrapped!) Just got released and pulled our double cart out when all hell let loose!! I literally had to hold onto my other crew member to stop us flying about the galley in some bizzare russian circus routine! Covered in bruises, It certainly got the blood pumping, but my dry stores took ages to sort out!
