Ba 777 Full Evac In Iah
Just off MSN to a friend of mine whos stuck in IAH after evacuating a BA777 due to engine vibration and smoke in the cabin during climb out of IAH last night.
Aircraft did a full emergency brief with passengers including the ever so stylish orange hat then initiated a full evacuation with slides deployed. All passengers and crew evacuated safely with only a couple of scraped knees and twisted ankles. A number of the passengers returned to london on the later flight that evening and said the crew did an fantastic job reassuring the passengers and initiating their duties. Well done guys/gals...your a credit to the airline and the industry!!! :ok: |

I totally agree, the crew on that flight are a credit to the airline industry! That could have turned out a lot worse. Well done to you all!

the flying public's fears have once more been allayed by another tidbit of journalistic excellence. the one thing that pilots in the latest and greatest airliner rely upon to alert them of an engine fire is - their keen sense of smell. good thing they haven't caught a cold or had their sinuses congested with allergies. the whole plane might have gone down in flames without either of them noticing that something's amiss!actually, wait a minute, it did! according to the article, the fire wasn't put out until after the landing! now, that's just good reporting.......................what i want to know is how BA can make money on a flight two thirds empty....surely not even a concorde flight could have been that bad! or was it stopping at jfk... p.s. "full" evac as opposed to a "partial" one?

As an obivous expert in the field need I answer your sarcastic post Nate?

Nate...or is that Knob????
Anyways...only 2/3's empty???? Um...with 14 first/ 42 Club/ 40 wt+ and 122 Wt means a total of 218 seats of which only 80 were unoccupied!!!! And why bother with a partial evac if its a full blown emergency??? Yet another ingnoramous wanders into pprune pretending to be a know it all!!! Go be a busy body elsewhere mate and stop insulting the wonderful crew who got everyone off that plane with NO injuries! |
