Which overseas-based airlines have a base in Aus?

I am asking this question for a friend of mine, and I haven't a clue about the dynamics of Cabin Crew forum, so my apologies if this question has been asked already - I have tried a search but couldn't wade through everything.

Could someone tell me which overseas-based airlines have a base in Australia?

Thank you for your help!

Hiya Bird Strike

I guess you make the apology because I have seen in other forums pprune-ers have a habit of pouncing on each other immediately?

As far as foreign international airlines having Cabin Crew bases in Australia is concerned, I am not sure of many (any?) that do?? Lauda (now Austrian) used to have a fairly small sydney base, but I believe that has closed down... Sorry I am not being helpful but I am really not aware of any!

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Hello,

I'm no professional or anything but after scanning through some airlines sites (I'm aiming to be an airline pilot) I've found that Cathay Pacific has a Sydney base but only F/Os are allowed to live here. YBBN and YMML also has one, you start off as an S/O and after you get promoted to an F/O, you have a choice of where you want to be based but I think it's only for the A333 as that's the plane I mostly see in YSSY, not sure about YBBN and YMML. For more information, check out their website on the careers section.

Capt J thanks for the response, but as this is a Cabin Crew forum, I think the question regarding Cabin Crew bases?

Bird Strike 1st August 2004 08:36

Thanks very much guys - sorry I forgot to mention that I was asking about Cabin Crew base.

OZcabincrew 1st August 2004 14:07

Yeah, and maybe don't abbreviate cities like YBBL etc, as people that aren't in the industry etc probably don't know what you're talking about! A good idea to write the city out in full.

Thanks
Oz

i agree and was just about to post same thing. Using international airport codes is just showing off esp on a CABIN CREW forum where we for the most part do not use int. airport codes, only 3 letter codes.
I know you are still young, but you sound like you are trying a little too hard to fit in when you dont need to.

Give Capt.J a break guys. Yes it is a cabin crew forum and yes he made a mistake not to write city names in full, but can we discuss the topic at hand, rather than Capt.J's response? The fact is - the original question did not specifically say anything about cabin crew bases. At least he has made the effort to post. I for one did not know Cathay had a Sydney base :) Sorry...not a dig at anyone, I just think that sometimes instead of discussing the original topic, we get led astray over little things to easily...thats all :p So...does anyone know of any overseas-airlines with cabin crew bases in oz? That's a great question, which I would be interested to find out about too!

Sorry, not being led astray, a simple request not to abbreviate- no need to advise on what we should be posting. Sorry, that wasn't a dig either, back to the question!

This is funny,

I mean valid points made, but can anyone answer the question ?

By this stage the original person who made the post ("Bird Strike") is surely living up to their location they have in their profile........Mind in the gutter, knickers in a twist.

A simple question has become a debate. :{ I think a few too many last minute pax boarding, late arrivals and dried out crew meal leftovers, have left everyone on edge. ( Just kidding ).

So getting back to the question. What is it ? lol

So...does anyone know of any overseas-airlines with cabin crew bases in oz? Oz = Aus, Aus = Australia ( Sorry, just being silly )

SydGirl 2nd August 2004 21:57

Short answer - No.

There is only one me... :E Maybe except for multiple personalities! :=

Anyway, SydGirl thank you for the straight answer!

Oops !! :\

A bad typo error, based on the fact I was attempting to make a post at 3.:30 am in the morning. Lesson learnt not to do that again anytime SOON.

Red faced Bizzi will go sit in the corner now.
