How do you cope with being away from your partner, especially if your base is far away from home?

I was just going to jump in here with an ill founded witicism such as 'party!' or 'avoid getting caught out'. But it's a good question, and perhaps deserves serious discussion.
Can a relationship survive unblemished given the 'opportunities' which might present themselves on those stopovers (to both parties)? Is the situation accepted more easily if the crew have already embarked on their career prior to the relationship starting? |

Just out of interest how do you cope when you are both working long haul and you have children? I know people do it but just wondering how the logistics of this work and how much outside help is required. |
My partner is an International Pilot, I'm not in the industry and love having time alone...when he is away. Good time for me to catch up with friends.... I guess think of the positives, it makes it easier.
To answer a question though I know quite a few Qantas LH couples, where both work full time (one being a Pilot and the other a FA) and they all have Nannies. Personally I don't see the point, if I was to ever have children then I would want them to be with me, or their father at least. |
