US entry requirements

Hey all

Have been reading with interest the proposed changes to the US entry requirements with most visa holders having to be fingerprinted and photographed by US Customs on the way and out of the USA.

I guess these these changes will affect cabin crew also (you guys need to have a multiple entry visa yeh?) - how do you all feel about being photographed and fingerprinted each time you entry etc?

I have nothing to hide, I think it's a brilliant idea. It might take a little longer to get through customs, but if it's for safety's sake, I'm all up for it:ok: .

hi!

just back from my first trip to the states since the new year and was interesting. we waited for an hour to get thro customs. all the pax on our flight had long gone by this time!

and you need to do this every time you enter the states so its not a one off. now with all crew they have to go thro many a security check where it now is becoming a joke to know exactly what you were doin 3yrs ago on monday so why do we need to do this whilst pax still fill in the visa wavier and just walk thro!

think you'll find its the pax instead of the crew that like to unlawfully take charge of an aircraft.
any thoughts? it certainly compressed my drinking time down route! i'm all up for increased security measures but seeing that we already hold visa's, disclosure forms and references dating back to the year dot i think they are concentrating on the wrong people!

I'm all for greater security - absolutely no doubt about that all.

There has been quite a lot of debate in my workplace about what happens with this information when they have it and how its managed.

Kempus, you have hit the nail on the head - it was in this very context that the matter was discussed. Crew being photographed and finger printed while visitors "sailed" through Immigration.

Some of the guys here were a little worried about what actually happens to their "scans" & "photos" after they're taken as non-citizens have precious few rights.

I guess some people place a greater value on their biometric data than others. Its an interesting debate which I think will continue for some time.
