excel longhaul??
Have heard a rumour that Excel Airways are now flying longhal, including Tabago. Anyone heard anything about this??

Longhaul routes start 1 Nov 2003 ex-LGW on 767's leased from Air Atlanta. I think it's Tobago, St Kitts and Antigua, or if not then very similar places. Will check for you next time I go into work.
Hope this helps MR XxX :p |
excel longhaul
yes they are doing longhaul on 767 thats what excel said in my excel interview at Manchester. It will be quick turnaround for the crew no long rest days sitting be the hotel pool.

Certainly not week long layovers, but enough time to get one night ny the pool. Not the typical Atlanta jaunt of 4 days sun-bathing to one day flying....
And if you're lucky you could get Christmas in Barbados. |
Are Excel getting 767-300s then ??? not sure if the 767-200 they have would go that far ....

Excel will be using leased Air Atlanta Europe 767's offering a 3 class product to:
Antigua ? not sure St Kitts Grenada Tobago The aircraft are to be chartered by Martin Cooper (ex Golden Lion, which was using Caledonian Aircraft until after the merger, when JMC closed Golden Lion down and cancelled the routes to GND and TAB) from Golden Carribean. At the moment they are using Monarch A330's in 2 class confing, but are finding it difficult to fill the 300+ seats, whereas Excel will be offering about 250 seats. Must have hurt Monarch pretty bad !!  Edited for spelling |
The 767-200's that Excel have are not the ER versions, so they will struggle to reach those destinations without a stop on the way. When they were planned to fly trasnatlantic routes for us, they were ALWAYS planned with a stop...It was a real bonus if you got there in one go!!
Shame about the nightstop situation for the crew...one night is better that nothing though! If its only a one night stop, then they must be operating a daily service, in order to rotate the crews. Either that or they are going to start positioning crew to and fro with scheduled carriers on a regular basis. If this is the case then they might want to have a word with the Idiots at Britannia that came up with the same idea a few years ago for our HKT flights...Talk about waste of money...Lets just say the idea didn't last long!!! :) |
Excel also currently lease one 767-300 from Air Atlanta (or type II as Atlanta call it, as opposed to the -200 being type I) which is, I believe, ex-Air France, and could happily fly all the way there in one go! Not sure if this is what they will use tho :p
