Monarch Airlines

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, and have fould it a great help! Got a question about Monarch. I've just started with them, and still training, and was wondering how much longhaul do crew get in a month, if any? I've heard that the average is one a month, can anyone give more info?

Also can we take our partner/friends on trips with us, and do we get public holidays in lieu? I asked someone and they said we do not! surely this is illigal?

Hey,

My girl has just started for Monarch and she isn't intitled to any days in lieu or holidays for at least her first six months. Only thing can do is try and request her days off. The travel industry is 365 days a year and that is taken into account with your salary and days off so generally the answer is no!

Long haul wise, she works from a short haul base, but i have spoke to some of her mates at LGW and well their always away to the Maldives for 7 days then back then 5-7ish days off then away again, but not always back long haul.

The company i work for you do long haul about twice a month if lucky but dont quote me, i'm too at a short haul base so this is just what i've heard. Would make no sense tho to have crew only flying twice a month, not only would they become rusty at the job but why should for example you get to go to the Maldives all the time working 2 days a month and i'm doing five flights a week to PMI!!!

Again dont quote me on any of that cos no doubt i will get shot down in flames as things vary from company to company!

Anyhow, its late, i'm waiting for my girlfriend to come home, due back at 5ish i think but even tho she doesn't do long haul she loves it!

Enjoy and good luck with the rest of your course,

Stu :ok:

long haul allocation and holidays

hello there well your probably on line there im a n02 for monarch at lgw. long haul wise u usually get something once a month from 1 nite stop or it could be 7 -10 days away. You tend to get a lot more in the winter as the long haul routes are more busier. You dont get public holidays back but you can vip days off you are allowed 20 of those per year. You can take whoever you want with you on trips and you can purchase standby seats for them for £76 once you are permanent crew. hope this helps good luck

Hey people if u want to do long haul and really have the best layovers in the business then Qatar Airways is the way forward, the management generally suck but u'r very rarely in Doha anyway, its like a paid holiday xxM.

I know its a bit late, and probably not much help, but did you see 'Holiday Airline' last night (Tues)on ITV? Filmed summer 2001 (pulled after 9/11 after one episode).. last nights repeated first episode showed some interview / recruitment footage. Might be of interest if someone taped it.

Used to work for Monarch pre 2001 and Long haul does vary no real system for alocation of trips. The girl i lived with was also crew on same fleet 757, A300 and A330 as me used to get some fab trips.

I used to get 3 weeks short haul ..... Palma, Malaga, Rhodes there and back or taxi to Man. Then one 24 hour layover in MBJ at the end of the month. While her flights used to look like something more from BA staff rosta, ie 14 day trip to Bahrain with postioning flight out and back, five day trip.... Dom Republic then position to Florida and crew back to UK. It all seemed to come down to where your name was on the computer at crewing.

longhaul

actually its a longhaul ladder system that distributes longhaul so if u get a trip then after that u go to the bottom of the ladder. The trips are split up into less than 3 days 3--5 days then 6 days+ so it should work out evenly especially now since April everyone at lgw is a330 fleeted and so will everyone at manch soon.
