Just a fun question: How's the love life ?

:)With so much travelling going on that one can barely keep a houseplant alive, how do you folks go about dating people or maintaining relationships in this job ?

Sadly ;) I've heard that it's just way too much high maintenance having a boyfriend in every city, so what's a girl to do then ? :p

carrioke 7th May 2003 02:22

Don't ask ....it is a desert out there.. It is so difficult to maintain the long distance thing...2 weeks ago another one bit the dust...:(

digna 7th May 2003 02:36

yah specially if you are working for a company that go long haul operation where you are always ms or mr right now rather than mr right

Bang 7th May 2003 06:39

love life? ladies I am so high and dry and horny!

sad life for a flight attendant.cannot maintain a strong relationship.

keeping fingers crossed for the right woman!!!

tiba 7th May 2003 10:54

Not just high maintainenace shani, complete headbangers ball if you even attempt that! Have to say that am in a great relationship at present but that didnt come without its share of "dry spells". Was single for a good enough 3 years before this. Doesnt also help right now with both of us based in different continents. But you gotta make the effort........it aint just gonna come to you. Word of advice.........go out and meet as many people as possible........the more people you meet are more that know you exist out there.........dont know about love but you sure is going to have lots of fun.

I have a long term relationship! :) I do s/h flights so it isn't too bad!

skinteastwood 8th May 2003 23:01

Gentlemen,

Give up on finding Miss Right............it usually turns out that her first name is Always.

GalleyWench 9th May 2003 05:06

Shani, It may be tempting but don't swim in the company pool when looking for love. This job keeps you in close quarters with your colleagues, closer still in a foreign country. When you break up with someone do you want to see them the next flight, or with their new girl/boyfriend? (Thats not to say I havent taken a dip in other airlines pools.....)

Shani 9th May 2003 19:51

So True !

Thanks Galleywench ! Very valuable tip, it makes sense.

Tapinhas 10th May 2003 22:12

I have been an FA for 12 years...(Married twice:ouch: )

Not easy to maintain a long relationship with our type of job I think(usually Women tend to become...Obsessive,Suspecious,Jealous.... ,you name it:rolleyes:

Both Ex's are not in the business....maybe its time to try, but,I have so many bad reports from fellow Colleagues that I really do not know what to do:ooh:
At the moment my love life is as empty as a drink trolley after a flight to CPH:E

captcat 10th May 2003 23:08

13 years in the biz, 13 years of relationship/marriage with a pilot, one child and no clouds this far :p

Pam747 11th May 2003 03:09

Relationship??? Whats one of those?:\

sweety 14th May 2003 01:45

Love life?

Happily married to a pilot, me! I reckon it works better this way, cause we understand each other's job and respect it.

I think it depends more on your personality etc rather than job. If you can't keep a relationship , don't blame it on your job, it's probably you!

A bit cheeky, I know, but that's my personal opinion. :ok:

drfox 15th May 2003 18:00

For me it has worked being with someone who is industry.:ok:
Have been a longhaul and shorthaul FA ( he is regional) and he has a better understanding of my day to day, to night, to week away work than anyone outside the industry would.

Never once have I had a whisper of a whinge about the job I do and better still, he completely understands when I need to have a nanny nap!!!

SkidSolo 19th May 2003 03:36

I'm a regional pilot and dated a long haul girl couple of months ago. I think she's wonderful and I thought we hit it off. We both agreed that it was more convenient because we know each others line of work(her ex's couldn't) but, alas, she's blown me off because she's too busy catching up on day to day stuff when she gets back from a trip. Is this the norm girls? A little bit of time management perhaps?

flyblue 20th May 2003 04:32

ehm, sounds a bit like an excuse to me SkidSolo...:hmm:
You manage time when you want to.

A300Man 20th May 2003 19:28

Bang
I heard that your love life was very much busy, interesting and international. True, or what?
