Looks like another crew member bites the dust through drink. This time bring your own booze.

That's quite a sad story. Hope she comes out the other end stronger and wiser.

Sounds very dramatic as it is only twice the DD limit. ;-)

Manchester must be quite the party town: An AA pilot also got in trouble there a few years ago but survived, kept his job and went back to flying.

She should contact AA, they might help with her drink problem.

A lot of crews opt to stay in hotels in the town centre, rather than the myriad placed around the airport itself, just because of the thriving night life and restaurants.

I assume she will lose her job - It's always sad to see a career come to an end with an incident like this. There are normally warning signs along the way and sometimes co-workers can intervene. We have a person we know we have to "manage" when we go out, but fortunately she's a happy drunk and never a problem the next day.

There but by the grace of God go I and and a good few others - although mostly in our twenties!

Glad to hear he's back flying. I hope Ms. Rosehill will sort things out and get back to work as well.

The article mentions report time seven hours after the last drink so that 0200 whisky from the minibar (5cl?) on top of the wine was not the most sensible thing to do, but is it this that leads previous posters to speak about problem drinking and 'warning signs'? Could she not have just overdone it for any number of reasons without being labelled an alcoholic? Eight times over sounds dramatic (and anything over is unacceptable of course), but if Planet Basher is correct saying that this represents twice the legal driving limit, that would be easily reached over the course of an evening (and a miniature from the minibar before bed) without any difficulty by most of us who enjoy a drink socially. Yes, acting as crew the following day carries responsibility and she has been found guilty of neglect in this regard but personally, I hope she is given the opportunity to learn from this on the basis of the statement to the effect that she has no prior history and continue her career at AA. From what I've seen, she probably has many, many years ahead of her and as American is a mature proponent of HIMS, she is in (a) good company.
