Qatar Airways boss shames drunk employee

Qatar Airways boss shames 'drunk' employee | Stuff.co.nz

She wasn't in uniform and in her own time, what's it got to do with the boss?

Precisely.

Additionally there may have been extraneous circumstances in this situation and rather than castigate perhaps some sympathy.

So a long term employee gets drunk-maybe it was because of the bullying and disrespectful culture seemingly beloved by the guy who started this. Maybe she is homesick, busted relationship etc etc, these things happen. Was it responsible to leave a woman in a building hallway when she was clearly in bad state, hardly.

Perhaps Qatar airlines treat their planes with more care than they treat their staff-I hope so but as a company the management seem to like grandstanding too much for my liking and perhaps it is likely that culture carriers over into a few other areas like flight ops, maintenance , etc etc

As the article points out public drunkenness is quite taboo in a conservative Muslim society such as Qatar. Employees work visas as dependent upon sponsorship by their employer, so if she was arrested or something it could come back to them. Even if nothing illegal was done it would still damage the reputation of the company.

Public shaming like this is an unfair response though, it should be been a private conversation with her and a general memo to staff without mentioning names or specifics.

May I remind you of the thread at the top of the forum page:

Recent high-profile defamation events illustrate that there are ways in which third parties can force personal data, including contents of personal messages, to be released by bulletin board owners. I hold no brief for Qatar Airways, in fact, the reverse. I hold them in contempt and refuse to fly with them. Sadly, I doubt this keeps them awake at night.

I always try to see the best in people. So, she was feeling a little tired and perhaps overbalanced whilst trying to pick up some dropped change from her taxi fare and took a rest before being helped to her feet.

Nice jeans, too!

This shows exactly what is permissible in an unenlightened, backward thinking, navel gazing country stuck in the Middle Ages where those within have no rights. You live, work and holiday there at your own risk.
