Safety Professionals should never be mocked.

As cabin crew we have seen significant loss in 2014 through unspeakable tragedy.

Fellow crew just going to work and never making it home. People who had to train each year at recurrent school and continually make the grade to operate.

It's sad when our profession and accidents are mocked for so called humour. I will not name the 'comedian' that pretends to be cabin crew yet for a while now I feel many see that the 'humour' chosen by her has crossed the line.

I don't find it appropriate to make jokes about air accidents and about cabin crew who lose their lives in the name of safety and service.

Very sad indeed and it needs to stop. :=

OK come on name and shame! (Or are you on about Pam Ann?)

givemewings 3rd Jan 2015 21:37

Wouldn't be surprised if it was 'Pam'.

She made disgustingly unfunny jokes about MH370 and when called out on her FB page chose to pretend she was talking about something else and deleted all comments off her page, telling everyone to get a sense of humor.

Sorry but for someone who earns her living from portraying cabin crew she needs to learn where the line is and show some respect...

Been unfunny for many years and now relying on vindictive and b!tchy comments about peoples' appearance rather than true wit...

What's the saying? Anyone can make a crude joke but it takes a true comedian to pull off a truly clever joke and get laughs in return....

Agreed. Even if it wasn't her in my view she has had her moment of fame in the 90's and should retire to a home gracefully. She just isn't funny anymore. Using airline incidents never has been funny and if she is trying to emulate Russell Brand style of 'humour' then she needs to look elsewhere.

A friend kept sending me YouTubes of PamAnn thinking that, being in the aviation industry, I would find them uproariously funny. After watching a couple of minutes of two of them I found them crude, tasteless, moronic, and unfunny. He was most put out when I told him so.

I believe she does a lot of shows in Dubai and is very popular there. That comes as no surprise.

I usually find her quite entertaining but it's a bit over the line to make jokes about accidents etc.

That said, I think any comments made by Pan Am are not really the issue. The issue is the mocking and general attitude towards crew by much of the general public. A lot of it, believe it or not, does stem from a degree of jealousy as well as a way to deflect ones personal fears of flying. Either way, it's not right and whilst some of 2014's incidents were probably very quick (thankfully) there are other incidents where crew have made the difference.

Interesting...

Having recently retired after 35 years flying as Cabin Crew, my view remains that crew are very often their own worst enemies - There isn't a stereotype in existence that they don't rush to fill.

The good ones get drowned out by the volume of the not-so-good.

I wish it was different.

I can understand how people get offended by others making fun. Top Gear do it with businessmen, satirists with politicians even z-list 'celebrities' against people with ginger hair - bizarre! I'm afraid you just have to shrug your shoulders, it's called free speech and you can't be selective about it. Anyone involved in flying for a living, whether as a passenger or crew member, knows the the hard work and dedication of cabin crew so I don't think these 'comedians' comments really carry much weight.

Look on the bright side....you could be an accountant (aka 'beancounter') reading R&N :)
