Hi,

Can someone let me know how many CC there are on a Virgin Australia B777-300ER and what is the minimum number of CC to operate that plane according to the operator's manuals and/or Australian regulations ?

As to how many crew on this type:

under legislation the minimum number of cabin crew required to be on board is:

"one cabin crew member per 50, or fraction of 50 passenger seats installed" (note - it is not 1 per 50 passengers as some crew mistakingly believe). I believe the capacity of the 777-300ER is 328, therefore the minimum required crew on board should be 7.

Crew ratio is different under CASA regulations 1:36 however as the 777 is widebody each door must be covered so minimum crew on the Virgin Australia 777-300ER is 10 although they usually carry 11 or 12 crew.

It is not just about the seats that sets the crew compliments - we have a 767 doing short haul with 328 and the legal minimum is 8 as all doors have to be covered.

We have a 767 with 258 and the legal minimum is 6 based on the doors....

Should be 6 anyway, 'cause over 250 seats....

The facts: VA B77W's are configured with 361 seats, and have 10 doors. Standard crew complement is 13, can go with 10 at the absolute bare bones minimum. On a full flight 13 crew is tight enough as it is, 14 would be ideal.

Thank's a lot for those replies.

@Sinala1, when the crew is reduced down to 10, is the number of pax also reduced or is it still 361 (+inf) ?

I presume 10 is the minimum as there are 10 doors, right ?

Thank's again

or close a cabin to maintain service elsewhere if preferred.

It's not a matter of pax number.

Number of installed seats matter!

Crazy?

Yes!

It's not really crazy given that the aircraft can be evacuated in 90 seconds with 10 crew and a full pax load, which has had to be demonstrated. That's why the assist crew are called assist.

PS- VA operate with 10 primary crew and 3 assist crew

:ok:
