My application for this job was refused. I did tell them I was adequately qualified but I think I may have seemed a little too keen to get the job.

Or for that matter, tattoos thereon? Even if they had, who on earth is going to see them? :confused:

Rubbish! Personally I find it more offensive to see CC with bandages on their arms covering their Ink than the actual ink... who wants someone with a dirty great big bandage serving their food? The airlines have gotten this wrong... I don't think too many people in Australia are offended by tatoos these days.

DD, it may have escaped your notice that Garuda flies to one or two places apart from Australia and the reaction to tattoos elsewhere may be somewhat different to your opinion of what Aussies like to see. Where I come from tats are chavvy, a public statement of oikishness and the very last thing you`d want or expect to see on a professional of any kind. Perhaps they just blend in better over there...

Plastic tits though are quite another thing. Perhaps Garuda dont want to employ the sort of self-obsessed image victims that are likely to abuse themselves in that way. If so they have my vote.

I doubt whether the customer has ever been "king" (or even "queen") in Aviation, anywhere.
30 years ago all the Aviation folk around the world were civil servants. Many still are. Civil servants don't generally acknowledge customers.

South West and Virgin promised that customers would become kings/queens..............but that was before the bean counters took over.

So now the beancounters are kings/queens.

I understand the Tatts may be an issue for Garuda... I was offering my opinion regarding Tattoos in Australia.
I heard a story that when VB (as they were back then) started flying to an Asian country (can't remember which one) the CC's discovered that Tattoos were very cheap at the destination... A customer wrote a concerned letter to VB expressing their concern at the number of CC who had injuries as they all had bandaged arms.
Of course the bandages problem is all over with the new Virgin Australia uniform... Tattoos are now covered by long sleeves.

Capetonian, if they eventually see sense and pass the interview process over to you, please consider this to be my application for the position of your right hand man.

Any employer that bans those near permanent vile, moronic things called tattoos gets my vote.

My daughter says the first thing she's doing on her 18th is getting one of the stupid things. That's what they've become. Fashion accessories.

Personally, I'd introduce a Tattoo tax to pay for all the future health problems this world-wide fad will give us.
