What do you take to work?
And what do you take it in?
Just a discussion thread. I'm yet to start, but when I eventually get a job in CC, I honestly don't have much of an idea what to pack for it. Toiletries, change of clothes, spare uniform. Seems to be the essentials to take, but do you take anything else with you? A book? Laptop? etc.? |
All of the above except laptop. I sometimes borrow a friends portable dvd player.
Your phone usually has music and camera covered as well. Oh and don't forget to take something nice to wear out just in case. Nothing like being asked to go out somewhere and all you have is your gym clothes. |
Do you mean what do you take for work, or for when you're downroute?
When I do stopovers I take a book, magazines, mp3 player, camera, bikini, beach towel, evening clothes, day clothes, underwear, toiletries, change of uniform etc. When I do shorthaul here is what I take in my crew bag (which is the size of a small suitcase): Cabin shoes Apron Cash wallet and float Oven Gloves Fleece (to wear in galley when it's cold) Plonky Kit Shoe Polish Sewing kit Spare tights Spare uniform blouse Underwear (in case of unscheduled nightstop) Toiletries (again in case of unsceduled nightstop) Flip-flops, light trousers and t-shirt (as above) Hi-Vis Torch When we do longhaul and stopover we are allowed to take another suitcase as well as our crew bag. The suitcase goes in the hold and our crew bags go in the cabin overhead stowages. Hope this helps!! |
Vodka.
Well I was after both answers really. Just curious to see what people pack :) Good answers both of yahs :D thanks, gives me a much better idea of what to pack really :) :ok: |
Thats about it... Not much eh??? |
Mr AMS-LHR likes to travel light ;)!
When you are the world's favourite flag carrier, you have to be prepared after all. Personally I just take one of my lovely mug collection for drinking lots of tea! |
when I used to fly down to Africa i took wine! sounds mad but couldn't a decent bottle down there and if you did they tried to charge a mega amount of money ;)
In all serious it does depend on what your rotation is. One night layover nice top, jeans and shoes for me, usual toiletries, spare shirt, PJ's (slightly embarressing if you forget those) |
Just a guitar and a toothbrush!
|
Hi,
congrats btw on getting the job. Hope you enjoy it. As per your question, depends really on the duration of the stopover. For the flight, long haul, -Ipod -Make up Bag with moisturising cream, toothbrush, makeup, the usual -Low heels for the cabin For the stopover of 1day+ -then obviiously change of clothing -swim suit -going out dress -rarely take another pair of heels as the stilettos i use for the aiport are ok for an evening out too Bascally, try to take as little as possible. |
Atlas
Im there with you with my bottle of wine jamming LOL ;) |

Yet to get the job. Still waiting! :) But thanks in advance :) hehe. Bringing a bottle of wine seems like an interesting idea really. I'm not enough of a wine lover to warrent bringing one along with me though. Some great ideas, didn't think of bringing something to swim in. Hotel pools can be fun to laze around in, gotta work on my tan. Still got the night shift tan going ;) |
Depends where I am going.
Cabin bag: eye shades, roster, wallet, ipod, camera, phone, torch, ziploc bag with first aid items, safety pins & hollywood tape, hand sanitiser gel, hand cream, spare undies, 'ladies items', bar float, apron, cabin shoes, sunglasses, any snacks, water, spare stockings. All this stuff just sits in there all the time except for the wallet, I add or take things away depending on the flight Rollaboard bag: again, depends on the destination & length of trip. Usually, change of clothes, pair of going out shoes, handbag (nothing like taking your crew bag out on the town :p) toiletries, swimsuit, hat, pyjamas, going out top, book, nail polish, etc etc etc. Of course always leave room for shopping!!! ;) My one tip is, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS at the very least carry spare underwear and a toothbrush in your cabin bag- you never know when you will get stuck in some hole when you divert there! |
What I carry in my flight case for up and down flights :
- toothbrush, spare underwear, ladies stuff in case of unforeseen layover; - speechbook; - basic medication; - oven gloves; - umbrella; - emergency guide; - magazine for long flights; - uniform waistcoat; - apron; - some cash float if the purser hasn't got one fot the inflight sales; - some snacks and biscuits; - food, as we don't have crew meals on board. In my crew handbag : - wallet; - airport and company badges; - roster; - chewing gums; - car keys; - moisturing hand cream; - sunglasses; - camera; - mobile phone; - agenda; - lipgloss and a small mirror; - sweeteners; - pen + some spare ones. For long layovers, I take my laptop with DVD and a book, in addition with the usual stuff. |
What do I take to work? Antidepressants and valium!
