Do you tell?
 

When you fly with another carrier do you tell them you are crew? I always like to know if I have other crew on my flights, never know when you might need them!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

I work for a uk charter company and i flew with United Airlines recently. My partner is a captain and it came up in a conversation with a member of cabin crew that we were both airline crew. We were subsequently treated like royalty by the crew member involved which was vey nice. I do allways enjoy when Crew members of other airlines do come forward to say hello and intruduce themselfs,some other of my colleagues do not care,but I do know that it's allways good to know if we have someone on board that we can count "just in case"... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> . .I do intruduce myself when steping on board as Cabin Crew(...and not expecting an up-grade <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" /> )

When I am in a good mood I introduce myself saying: "Hello, I am your ABP"!

ABP???

ABP = Able Bodied Passenger You know, the guy that you get to block the aisle for you while you deploy the slides etc. You brief him how to open the exit if you die ...... .. .I do not mention I am crew when I fly in plain clothes. When I travel I concentrate totally on being "that cute guy in 14F"!! "-)

ditzboy, it is considered courtesy to the crew on duty to introduce oneself especially when travelling on staff tickets. Remember that in this case the crew knows from the PIL that you are on an airline discount fare and most consider it a lack of courtesy not to say "hi".. .Also consider that in case of emergency a professional is the best ABP.. . . . <small>[ 13 March 2002, 07:40: Message edited by: flyblue ]</small>

Flyblue...... .. .Yes this is true. I forgot to add that in an emergency I would be the first to offer assistance to the operating crew. Also I am yet to fly in plain clothes where the fact I am crew has not come up in conversation. They usually pick this up on the PIL and come down for a chat. :-)

I share your sentiments exactly el and Biscuitchucker! Crew generally don't care and it leads to embarrasement.. .. .I like it though when people introduce themselves as crew to myself. I chat with them for the sector. It gets one out of the nasty "galley gossip" circle :-)
