I heard he'd bought her a Christmas stocking....but then , when he tried to think of another gift, he was stumped.

NRU74
I remember there was a UK Registered Gulfstream in Male when we arrived, which I thought was a bit odd. If that was the A/C, it was one hell of a Christmas present !.

I think it was a joke. A (carpenters's) plane?????? And I don't mean Richard or Karen

Mr Mac 30th Apr 2014 05:16

NRU74 / Dawdler
Sorry I missed the joke (Duh), but by coincidence was a UK reg Gulfstream in Male at the time hence my confusion /comment. Good pun though NRU 74 sorry I missed it first time around !.

Mr Mac

No probs Mr Mac
One's always wary of using the term 'plane' on this forum - apart from in Spotters Corner !

The Scouse Strop

I see that a regular on these pages is to get a special BAFTA award. For services to aviation I presume?

So one group of self obsessed, selfish, unpleasant people recognise one of their own:E

Becky Anderson (CNN anchor) very recently. Extremely polite and a rather wicked sense of humour!

MtSpeedDemon 28th Jun 2014 13:52

I'm not CC but I've read this entire thread, saw this news story and thought of this thread.

Some celebs can still be classy. This one even has an additional aviation relevance; Amy Adams played Brenda Strong in Catch Me If You Can.

Wow: Amy Adams gives up first-class seat on flight for a serviceman | Entertain This!

From the linked article:
The actress gave up her first-class seat on a flight from Detroit to Los Angeles to a soldier she saw onboard. Jemele Hill of ESPN’s Numbers Never Lie witnessed the event and documented it on Twitter.

Rosamund Pike recently. Absolutely gorgeous and very chatty. Seemed wary of anyone with an iPhone, as if expecting to be photographed

Never heard of her!

Played Miranda Frost in the Bond film, Die Another Day. Very sexy.

Thank you sir:)

Anyone had Tom Daley? Heard a few old AirSouthwest dits about him. He was quick on the twitter trigger on a recent Virgin tech fault also.

Opinion tended to be those "guiding" him were perhaps not putting him in best light.

galanjal 17th Sep 2014 13:21

Theresa May (British Home Secretary, noted for her shoes!) very recently. Incredibly polite, chatty and unassuming. Treated the crew with respect and she won a new fan in me (the shoes were fabulous!)

Some years ago I carried a delegation of Labour politicians (I know lucky, lucky me) and one in particular stood out.

I had never been a fan of Margaret Beckett thinking she was a typical leftie Labour Party non entity.

However she was charming. On disembarking she held back and came to me and thanked me and the crew for looking after them and saying how much she appreciated the service.

I, not for the first time, learnt not to judge a book by the cover:ok:

You do realise this was all just in their training as to what to say/do to make the public like them don't you.
Its called PR and they are actors.....which is why so many politicians are ex lawyers where the courtroom is their act
I know people who are very very good at this and can artificially 'put on' any characteristic they wish depending on who they are dealing with and the circumstances. Interestingly they regard people in general as all idiots and so easy to manipulate.

Phnar.

Never having 'got' celebrity I get the feeling that people who are impressed with celebrity are perhaps simple people who are easy to manipulate. A well known person is just someone who is well known. I can appreciate a Clint Eastwood movie in the same way that I appreciate a plumber coming out to fix my boiler. Both do a good job and I applaud what they do. I don't feel the need to ask my plumber for his autograph, neither would I ask Clint Eastwood for his. Mr Eastwood and I may find common ground however in that we are both aviators, same as David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Tom Cruise and Bruce Dickinson. I could talk to them about our shared passion on an equal basis.

Barring the fact I can't afford a P-51.

Steady on old chap, apart from taking the p1ss out of chavs, CC don't get much job satisfaction, leave them have their simple fun, it's not harming anyone.

Well obviously John Prescott missed the course or was too thick to take it in:ok:
