Qantas need some info please

Hi guys,

just a quick question. My partner is a senior cabin crew for ezy and he would like to apply for Qantas, do you know if are they still recruiting? How much could be a salary par month?? I know it's too much ask on here but if someone of you works in qantas and wants just reply in private message I would really appreciate it. I hope so to get some answer from you.

Cheers
:) :) :)

Funny, this is EXACTLY the same question you asked in the Qantas UK thread. I have a funny feeling you'll see one of these posts (most likely this one) deleted.

I m not very expert with pc same as you!!!
I deleted.
Anyone can give me some information about the post above please, thanks!!

Hi there, they are still recruiting because i received an email 3 days ago from them telling me to call them back one more time for have a date for an interview in London but i have already a job offered by ANA. And i refused the interview with them for the second time. For the salary when they called me for the phone interview they told me the basic is 16000 pounds after that there are flight allowances 92 euros in BKK and average 160 Euros in SIN and HKG paid in cash at your hotel and you also have others allowances but i dont remember how much .

mostie 24th Sep 2006 11:43

Qantas UK are acting as trainers for new Emirates flight attendants.

Whenever they recruit scores leave QFUK for greener pastures........

Which is why QFUK are basically always recruiting.

ozskipper 24th Sep 2006 12:12

The rank structure in the UK is the same as in Australia....

You have:

CSM (Customer Service Manager) which is like a BA CSD.
CSS (Customer Service Supervisor) which is like a BA Purser (but we have only one and is the CSM's deputy).
BFA (Business & First FA) works mostly in First or Business Class.
FA is obvious really.

We don't cross crew, so at the moment you'll work with London based crew only.

Hi Rapha
I sent a private message for you

ozskipper 24th Sep 2006 12:21

Enay...

There is quite a lot of info about what you are asking in previous threads.... Especially around salary etc.

In short, FA's earn around £1050 - £1200 per month after tax plus another £500-£550 in local allowances (which are not taxed).

Yes, Qantas in the UK are still recruiting and you can expect that to continue over the next few months. However, there are a lot of applicants on the waiting list to be called, so you may not get a call straight away.

Mostie...

There is some element of truth to what you say, but its not scores that are leaving. Some go to BA, some to Emirates and some just leave. The main reason we're recruiting at the moment is to replace the Australian transferred crew who are going home next year.

Mods:
You'll probably do this anyway, but can you pop this thread into the QFUK thread, so I don't have to answer these questions again :P

Hi ozskipper

This is Enay's partner here.

Thank you very much for all that information, its very helpful..those allowences sound good I think?
That would certainly help to bring up the salery per month.

I was wondering also..how many trips you do per month and how long they might be?
Thanks again for all your help.

ozskipper 24th Sep 2006 23:08

Hello Enays Partner :D

All are 4 day patterns with 27-47 hrs off in port. You do one trip a week with a minimum of 3 local days off after a trip not including the day you get in.

So you're looking at something like this....

MTWTFSSMTWTFSS
TTTTOOOTTTTOOO
P A L L
T=Trip O=Off
P=PM Departure, A=AM Arrival, L=Lunch time Departure/Arrival.

The allowances are reasonable, but it depends on how much you spend while you're away. If you wee it up the wall then I suppose it's not that great, but if your "sensible" with it then you can save quite a lot. I'm somewhere in between. A sensy-wee'er you might say. :D

Qantas UK Visa's

Hey peoples.

I was just wondering what QF UK's rules are in terms of Visa's.

Would they employ someone with a two year Visa isured in Australia?

If they do accept Ozzy Visa's what kind would they prefer? Working Holiday for example.

Cheers any advice would be great.

I assume you're Australian? So your question is whether you'd be able to work for QFUK while visiting the UK on a WHV?

Are the WHVs not the same as those issued to UK passport holders in that they restrict you from working for the same employer for a period of more than three months?

HeavenScent 25th Sep 2006 12:46

Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone was at the Welcome Aboard day on Saturday 23 Sept?

I was supposed to be there but missed my flight from Belfast Airport due to staying behind on Friday evening in the office to help my boss finish a tender. Rushed to the airport and missed check in by ten minutes. Im really annoyed and devastated as I had been looking forward to this for 5 weeks. Bought a new suit, swotted up on the company etc etc.

I called this morning to explain and the lady, who was very nice, explained to me I would have to wait until next year to reapply again.:(

Aw well, I guess it wasnt meant to be - still gutted though. Thats what i get for helping out at the office, lol!!

Good luck for those going in the next few weeks and congrats to all who have gotten through!

Claire:)

Out of luck on this one unfortunately. QFUK will not employ you on a WHV as it does not provide the return on investment and isn't flexible enough. You really need an unrestricted visa such as ancestry, partner/spouse, or indefinate leave to remain visa.

Actually no, the visa issued to Commonwealth citizens visiting the UK is different from the visa issued to British citizens visiting Australia. Commonwealth citizens do not have the same restrictions as changing jobs every 3 months imposed on them as you would in Australia. Although to be honest, it's not really enforced in Australia anyway. The only restriction imposed by the WHV in the UK is that you must not work for more than 12 months of the 24 months the visa is issued for.

Ozskipper,

Thanks for all your responses to the questions people post.

Its always interesting to read your posts (and informative). Especially for someone who is considering a transfer up your way!

Keep it up!

Thanks mate.:ok:

qf allowances sin/bkk/hkg

1day slip_sin sin$147
bkk thb 2050
hkg hkd 690
2 day slips...2nd day allowance is larger as a meal provided
on board inbound 1st day reduces allowance.
there were many 3 day plus slips in asia but these are now
basically gone. one crew member lhr estimates reduction in
allowances due to less slip time has cost 400 gbp a month.
all figures above are an approximate but are definitely less
than ba...something to do with uk taxes???
whatever decisions people make, salary/allowances are not everything
but poverty is not something most aspire to

ozskipper 28th Sep 2006 10:59

Thanks Sydney S/H - I really appreciate you saying that! :)

vodkaholic 28th Sep 2006 11:45

somebody told me that although you only fly to those 3 destinations, when you are in hong kong you also do a flight to sydney and stay in sydney for a few days then fly back to hong kong and then back to uk. is this true?!

ozskipper 28th Sep 2006 12:52

Completely untrue.

LHR based crew fly only to / from Asia and never down to Australia.

AUS based crew fly to LHR on one flight per day via SIN.
