I agree. Our forum skirted around all questions, so I wonder whether it was worth being there at all, even when we suggested that the wording didn't reflect its meaning - "we were all tired ....... we didn't mean you 'will' all be doing 4 BOC in a row, that is simply impossible with scheduling " - well change it. RBM said BOC will be easy.......What can one say to that???? Staying mute was the only way to openly react to this statement. I think our mouths dropped - RBM had alot of ex AN, Gulf and Emirates FA's and shift workers who know how hard BOC is on anyone's body/ clock - forget how busy the service is.

Educate the youngies on the details and specifics perhaps, and ENCOURAGE them to see things our way?

Ansett and Australian had their fair share of young crew who saw the light thanks to the educating efforts of senior crew. Surely we could do the same!
Absolutely!!!!!!!! We are united. We need to communicate or meet or post factual info in the crew room re Workchoices. Fear is not the way to live.

I believe that some of my sisters saw a very different side to the boss when he lost his cool at them under pressure during question time.....
Can anyone paint us a picture on the event?

OldBoiler 9th Mar 2006 07:26

T2, are you referring to the Sydney forum? I heard that a couple of the crew let loose on the little leprechaun and he absolutely lost it. A good serving was also given to his little ditzy blonde sidekick(ex union rep turned bad), who walked out after she was called an idiot by one of the crew! Boy was I at the wrong forum! Heard it was a site to be seen, and heard for that matter. My hat is off to those crew, well done guys :ok:

Miss Leadfoot
Good sensible post but I think it went right over the heads of some hotheads posting here, when you think of the of overall sectors that J* fly, the Darwin-Perth sectors are less than 5%, and like DJ most F/A's would be unlucky if they averaged one a month over a year.

You hotheads should go back a page and re-read Miss leadfoots post as the facts are there in black and white.

......"Lastly, you accepted this job "as is" and were happy to do so. A high turnover of staff is something the company likes, remember when discussing your EBA they dont care if you stay or leave. Unfortunately we just fill a position and that position can be filled immediately. If the company offered you an individual contract at the start how many of you would have said NO? Probably not many at all because we want to fly and will do anything to get in.'..............

Mr SeatBack
Having read your informative posts over the past years since you began at Impulse, it is starting to look like you are fast approaching your use-by date,
personally I think you would be a great asset to Virgin Blue, Hey! they still overnight in Rockhampton :-).

HELP

I am a new F/A for JQ, we have been encouraged to vote, but my fellow classmates and I have no idea what we are voting on as we have'nt worked under the current award. Please, we could be doing damge to your vote, please make it simple with pros and cons so we understand what to vote for. It is worth having our vote - an educated vote. Our votes could help you with the final outcome:confused:

That argurment doesn't wash. When most people apply for this job, they *really* want it and don't think too much about how difficult it can be. It isn't until they start flying and do one trip after another after another after another that the reality starts to set in.

I work for QF and am lucky that we still manage to maintain reasonable conditions, though these are quickly being eroded and I am certainly feeling the effects of fatigue more and more. This ridiculous statement ("You signed the contract") is often used against our AKL or BKK based crew. It surprises me that we don't occassionally see some of these people dropping down dead! They work crazy hours - often 50 hours more per roster than AUS crew. It really can't be at all healthy and in fact, could even be dangerous. And of course, you never get the best out of someone who is exhausted. I know that when I am feeling tired and miserable, my service standard is not what it would otherwise be.

You may have "signed the contract" under certain crappy conditions, but now you know how bad they can be, it is up to you to either try to change it or leave.

Good luck with your EBA. Don't sell yourselves short. This is Australia, not some third world country.

beachwave40 16th Mar 2006 03:17

well to everybody who voted no, YOU got your way

EBA voted down.

JetScar 16th Mar 2006 05:32

YES!!! the crew say.. NO NO NO!!!!

Beachwave, you sound despondent. You shock me with your earlier comments:
"well i really don't see why we waited this long for this EBA. It seems the same to me thou this comment could get peoples back up"

Have u read and compared BOTH EBA's??? This proposed EBA took so much from us and gave nothing back in return!
Might be a good idea to take this opportunity to take your future into your hands and discuss the significant impact this proposed EBA would have had on your life with those of us who value our worth!

If you don't understand the 'all take and no give' concept proposed and REJECTED by a majority of us, start asking your fellow crew who care enough to make a stand! NOW more than ever we need to UNITE and demand a FAIR EBA!!! We work so hard for this company and contribute significantly to the mass profits the QF group rake in!

Take a look at how screwed the pilots were with their negotions! If they had united and stood their grounds many now realise they would have had incredible power to negotiate something remotely fair compared to the disgraceful conditions they now have locked in place! The power of evil Irishmen scare tactics had them blufffed! Lets learn from this!!

JQ crew be STRONG and HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH!!!!:ok::ok::ok:

sinala1 16th Mar 2006 05:39

EBA voted down
Congratulations JQ-ites, I am pleased for you - good luck in the next round, hopefully the offering will be more palatable :ok:

jetstarFA 16th Mar 2006 09:57

Back Pay - NOT THE ANSWER

:yuk: Work it out 3% 39000 = $1170 over 12 months...
$1170 / 12 = $97.50 per month
May 05 (I think) til March 06 $ 975.00 Before tax.... Paid in 1 installment at a rate of .049% tax - $490

$485....... Back pay

I could get more scanning barcodes at Coles on a Saturday morning.
We got more with the QF group bonus....

BACKPAY - Those JQ management clowns (like the male jackets) think they could or can or will use that ... KIDS...

I BEG YOU ... see past the Dizzying $$$$.....
