Campness - A requirement for Air Stewards?

No, it's not a mick take, despite my other thread. Well, here's the thing, I'm looking to be an steward for one of the big airlines. And I've talked with a few people already in the business, namely family members. All of whom have suggested that if I appear more camp, I will improve my chances as I'd be seen as more friendly, let's face who would you approach Graham Norton or Charles Manson if you needed help opening your peanuts. One small problem though, should I appear homosexual or camp in order to gain the job and were my family really telling the truth about all of this? Cos Aunt Maggie does tell a few porkies.

Can't believe I am even answering this question but don't be so bloody silly!!! Just be yourself and I am sure your shining personality will get you the job.

Whats with the name by the way? (It wasn't me on 9/11?)

Mate, I wouldnt even bother applying if I were you!!! You would just offend everyone!

Sorry, about the name, wasn't really thinking. I mean you can't see me, but throughout my schooling, due to my racial background, some nasty kids at school, and my interest in the aviation industry, I wasn't often the butt of any schoolboy terrorist jokes. I realise now, this is neither the place or the time. My sincerest apologies to all who take offence.

Stop listening to Maggie.......

As long as the original post is is still visible on thread, there is no need to quote it in its entirety. This is a practice that pollutes many other bulleting boards and which we, with your cooperation, want to keep OFF PPRuNe.
Thank you :)

Well some of the camp guys I've flow with do a very good job in commanding a cabin. They're probally some of the healthiest people I know.

Who says straight guys aren't as friendly or approachable as gay guys? I fly with many straight guys who are friendlier and more approachable than some of the gay guys.

You will have equal chance of getting in regardless of you sexual orientation I'm sure.

Oh, one more thing, don't listen to your aunt Maggie!
